    Cons

No opportunities for training and advancement. Okay pay.

    Advice to Management

    Keep your word.

    Pros

Awesome PTO - but only if you can get converted from a "temp" to a regular employee.

    Cons

The background/credit check for conversion is insanely stringent for McDonald's-like wages. Credit check is a key component of the conversion process, but your credit has nothing to do with the benefits you are denied access to if you are not converted from a temp agency employee to an eBay employee. You are able to work as a temp for 1.5 years, taking the same sensitive financial information from customers as eBay employees, but you are excluded from PTO, raises, affordable benefits, promotions, stock sharing options, the list goes on!

    Advice to Management

When you aren't sticking with a job because of low pay, or because of the brutal nature of being screamed at and abused by customers, you are typically doing so out of loyalty, or a happy, comfortable, and cohesive workplace. Nurturing employee morale rather than discouraging it on all fronts and at every turn will breed a much more result and customer driven workforce.

    Pros

    Benefits and great work/life balance.

    Cons

poor pay and no advancement. Company does not help to promote from within. You basically have to leave the company and work somewhere else then reapply.

    Advice to Management

Help advance talent from within even if it is to different parts of the company.

    Pros

Sweat shop, but at least it's air-conditioned. Large parking lot. Centrally located and convenient. Lots of places to eat nearby. Entry-level pay way back in the early 2000's was decent at around $11.15/hr but it wouldn't surprise me if it's still near that.

    Cons

Worked there when it was still called GSI Commerce. It was a complete management disaster. Multiple high-level and mid-level managers were let go. When their Wisconsin center opened GSI found themselves with too many employees. Rather than be up front with them and let them go with separation pay, they looked for excuses to fire them. As the pool dried up many more quit before they were fired because of the terrible work conditions. In general a terrible culture of using employees up and discarding like old tp.

    Advice to Management

I'm sure some of the old management is still there, but for the employees' sake I hope not. Advice to the thinking ones, remember to treat your employees like people.

    Pros

The benefits were awesome, and the coworkers and some of the management I worked with was great,as well as the customers.

    Cons

When they hire you, they have you sign a contract that states your schedule, pay rate and etc,BUT,then they'll change your schedule to a totally different shift even though you signed a legal contract with them a yr before.

    Advice to Management

be upfront with your employees about their schedules, pay rates and etc & more importantly stick to it.

  7. Great place to work. The company provided training for new products and educated customer reps on what to expect.

    Pros

They give two weeks of training, and the work reviews and training continue weekly once on floor. When the holiday season is in full swing, there is often no time for breaks (or breathers), so every now and then someone will walk by handing out pretzels, bottles of water or soft drinks, cookies, etc. At season's end, the retailing partners often offer their samples at hugely discounted prices for employees, and everyone gets a fair chance at getting them. If you make it through the season without quitting or being fired, there's a $1/hour worked bonus in January.

    Cons

It may have been the toughest job I've ever had. While I love customer service, it's sometimes hard to connect with someone who phones in because of a problem with an order they've received. I liken it to road rage where, because they're anonymous, many times civility is thrown out the window, and they feel they're entitled to a reward because they've been inconvenienced; and the louder they are, the greater the chance of getting that reward. The huge majority of complaint calls were not this way, but unfortunately, the ones that were stick out in my mind more vividly.

    Advice to Management

No advice. I think they did a fantastic job.

    Pros

Company is good to workers, chance of advancement within company. Flexible hours, alot of overtime during season, undertime if you want it when it is slow.

    Cons

Customers are horrid, unreasonable people during season, with unrealistic expectations.

    Advice to Management

Better training on software systems so you are not so lost when you hit the floor.

    Pros

Good management; will work above and beyond to help, easy, laid back, casual, good pay for the amount of work you do

    Cons

Slow calls except during holidays, few holidays off except Christmas, rarely get 40 hours a week, was seasonal for 8 months before made permanent, some managers will send you home involuntary when call volume is slow
