    Senior Product Manager

    Senior Product Manager (Current Employee)
    Campbell, CA

ProsOpen work culture, Great benefits, Compensation is very competitive
Would recommend the company for learning eCommerce and how to work in a matrix organization
Lots of growth opportunities and avenues of growth

ConsEveryone has a different and non-additive agenda
Need to be political to succeed at work
Matrix organization, so setting goals are not shared
Rather than being creative & customer centric, financial results alone measures product decisions

Advice to Senior ManagementSet a vision and the company will come together as a glue to contribute towards that vision

Worst place I've ever worked. Run from this company.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Campbell, CA

ProsCompensation is on par with other Silicon Valley tech companies. Work/life balance is reasonable.

ConsNo real strategy, just a bunch of unrelated features and services that release each year.

Terribly matrixed with no alignment across teams. It's very common to be working o a project and then find out there is an entire team doing exactly what you are trying to do.

No vertical career growth. Most opportunities are horizontal.

Terrible culture. So much apathy. No one cares about the quality of what they are releasing. Mediocre results are not only tolerated, they are celebrated.

    Very poor middle management.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Working at eBay

    Director (Former Employee)
    Campbell, CA

ProsGreat people, leading edge technology, opens doors because it is recognized as a great company

ConsGetting more difficult to get things done as the company is growing

Advice to Senior ManagementDo more to create opportunities for existing employees. Company started to do more hiring from outside versus promote from within in certain organizations.

    Intern

    Accounting Intern (Former Employee)
    Campbell, CA

ProsFun environment to work in. If you are an intern it is pretty easy to be lazy and not do anything.

ConsBecause at times you don't have any real responsibilities it becomes extremely boring and you begin to slowly lose your mind.

Advice to Senior ManagementI believe that you need to develop a more comprehensive and engaging intern experience.

Really smart people at eBay and PayPal

    Finance Director (Former Employee)
    Campbell, CA

    ProsThey hire very bright people
    Constantly innovating, especially at PayPal
    Change very quickly
On top of their compensation plans/proactive

ConsRun by many ex-consultants- means you are doing many powerpoint decks over and over again- the polish and presentation is highly valued
Change too much -could benefit with better processes
Running in many different directions sometimes

No longer the great company it use to be. Technology old..Very,very political

    N/A (Former Employee)
    Campbell, CA

ProsGood cafeteria and nice campus. If you want low pay, unfriendly environment I recommend this company.

ConsLack of follow-up communication from mgmt & team leaders. Depts. within organization seem to have a disconnect with each other and their people. Technology not that great anymore so this should raise a red flag for those folks thinking on coming on board. Lots of politics within this company. The higher up on the toteem pole the less you have to watch your back. Philosphy of a majority of people working there is watch your back. Not a great working environment anymore. Mgmt's philosphy, people are expendable. I know this all seems harsh but honestly can't recommend working at eBay the way it is now.

Advice to Senior ManagementI hear the words that mgmt cares about its people etc. but your words don't seem to follow their actions.
