    Innovation at every turn

Information Security Engineer III (Current Employee)
    San Jose, CA

ProsFlexibility of schedule, interesting projects, decisions can be made at all levels. Personal accountability is a valued.
The sabbatical program is a great perk, and pretty effective handcuffs.

ConsLike every company there are some folks that hold up progress to advance their own agenda. At times passive aggression can be a problem. Getting promoted involves a group discussion, so if you've crossed someone it can come back to haunt you,

Advice to Senior ManagementThere is still a lot of "us and them" between two of the core business units. It impacts the forward motion and it wont stop until it is resolved at the management level - starting at the Director levels. No matter what the Presidents of the divisions say - lower management is not playing along.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

ProsSome really good projects to work on. Get to know the eCommerce domain
Great engineering team to work with
Innovation happening but at a slower pace

    ConsPlaying catchup to other competitors
Limited growth opportunities. Maybe manager to blame
Manager never groomed anybody from within the team to step up to the next level

    Good people, tedious work

    Taxonomy Consultant (Former Employee)
    San Jose, CA

ProsGreat people and facilities. Company seems more focused than the first time I worked there. I felt like I was actually contributing to something.

ConsNot enough training. It's sink or swim in a very deep pool of information. Work ambiance not great. Not enough cubicles, loud neighbors, meetings breaking out spontaneously next to desks, too-warm temperatures

Advice to Senior ManagementMore training. Don't just leave people to fend for themselves.

ProsIf you are interested in exploring new career opportunities, for example, moving from from a tech to product organization, the organization is very supportive.

ConsThe organization is very flat and not a lot of opportunities for vertical growth.

Great work environment but what's the big picture?

Member of Technical Staff II, Software Engineer (Current Employee)
    San Jose, CA

ProsLove my coworkers and going into work every day. Lots of interesting work and technical management open to new ideas and directions. It has ambitious technical plans and is finally starting to adopt open-source genuinely. Depending on your area in the company, there is a real emphasis on work-life balance. Many employees are in the 5-10 year range, which for a valley company speaks to it's comfort (both good and bad).

ConsMany areas lack sufficient management, either due to attrition or difficultly hiring candidates playing at our level.

Advice to Senior ManagementWe have to tackle our technical debt head on!
