Advice to Senior Management
To move forward you have to set the bar high and that's what ePrize does. That's not a bad thing. I know the company is working on celebrating work/life balance and the CEO recently gave the employees 3 extra days of PTO this summer which was a nice thank you for their hard work.
Pros
ePrize was probably my first professional experience as a programmer. Over the years I spent there (2009 is the furthest back I can select, but I left quite a bit before that), I had some wonderful times, worked with some amazing people, learned a ton, and had some great opportunities for advancement--primarily because I sacrified my personal life to do it and the company was rapidly expanding during my tenure.
Cons
At first, the only real con was the crushing work load. That by itself, I found bearable but only because I didn't really have an outside life at the time. Later, backstabbing politics and cronyism were added to the mix and at one point I remember driving in each morning and feeling physically nauseated at the prospect of another day there. One friend, upon leaving ePrize, likened it to 'beating cancer'. It really was that bad. Additionally, the pay I received at ePrize was laughable. I didn't have a lot with which which to compare it at the time, but after leaving stories of folks doubling or tripling their incomes upon their departures were not uncommon. Idoubled my salary when I left--and I was one of the few there that had managed to significantly increase my pay while still there.
To be fair, I have no idea how things are these days, I'm writing this review so I can see other company reviews here, not because I have some vendetta. But I'm not going to lie about my experiences, it was truly horrible at times. That said, many of the people most responsible for the real horrible stuff were eventually laid off or quit and I suspect I don't even know anyone left there anymore, it may be a fine place to work these days. I've heard a few things through the grapevine, however, that despite an almost complete turnover of employees much of the same stuff goes on to this day.
Advice to Senior Management
Truly value your employees. Pay them competitively, treat them like people with families and interests, not simply as a means to get work done and generate revenue.
Pros
Everyone is treated equally. Whether you are the CEO or an assistant, each ePrizer's opinion and input are truly valued.
Cons
In such a creative environment, everyone has very different preferences. It is very hard to please everyone and also difficult to determine whose feelings should be accommodated for.
Advice to Senior Management
I would encourage more company wide celebrations. Very often one team or group has food brought in for a party or has an outing while the rest of the company is not included.
Pros
Talented people
Passion for the marketing field
Learn from multiple disciplines
The brands and companies we work with
Cons
Very fast-paced environment - have to be the type of person that likes this.
Pros
Great people to work with, play hard work hard atmosphere.
Cons
Little or no room for career growth
Pros
There were some nice perks: lunchbox (subsidized lunches), free soft drinks, parties, 401k matching, great medical benefits.
Beyond that, there were great people to work with OUTSIDE of management.
Cons
All of the perks are gone. The medical benefits are still there but greatly reduced. 401k matching is gone. Also, if you don't get something in writing (or even if you do), ePrize management is very unlikely to honor their contract unless it is directly in their favor.
Advice to Senior Management
Linker is already out as are most of his friends & family so things are turning around. Don't be so fake & flashy. Just be a down to earth hard working company that does the right thing by their people and clients.
Pros
ePrize gives you the ability to work on some of the top brands in the country, which is a good resume builder. Their building is pretty cool, offering a coffee house-like area to work and hold meetings. There are also some interesting perks like free coffee, pop and a discounted lunch program.
Cons
No Life! - I worked, consistently, between 70 and 80 hours a week.
I received little, if no recognition from management for my hard work or accomplishments.
This company totally exhausted me.
Advice to Senior Management
It appears as if the company policy is to hire young and burn them out.... because they are replaceable. They will never attract or retain quality people without major change is respect for work-life balance and proper compensation.
Pros
Creative place to show your creativity
Cons
Nepotism at its highest level
