    Pros

A dinosaur company trying to change. lots of challenges to work through. Image is slowly changing for the better.

    Cons

Very poor HR, no clue of process, generally long term employees (20yrs+) are the worst ones, very self centered and poor leaders.

    Advice to Management

Remove the activists/terrorists to help your people grow and be empowered.

    Pros

eircom is going through lot of change and there were some very interesting projects going on. the building in HSQ is fantastic and most of the people you work with are lovely.

    Cons

there is a lot of infighting and politics.. a lot of which at senior level filters down through the organisation. people can get away with doing very little.

    Advice to Management

    need clarity of vision.

    Pros

If you get a contract role paying very well you could work here for a short period 6-12 months max. If you like doing very little work this is the place for you.

    Cons

The organisation is falling apart, CEO recently departed, middle and senior management are completely disconnected from the organisation and only have their interests at heart.

    Pros

Many, many excellent engineers that are able to deliver great networking solutions for customers.

    Cons

Many conflicting and competing services within the portfolio. Old style union culture slows the company down.

    Pros

Good compensation, good benefits including time off for vacation, sick leave and maternity leave. Challenging work for those who want it.

    Cons

Complex work environment and can be difficult to get things done. Company has been transacted a number of times over the years leading to constant change at senior management level.

    Advice to Management

After lots of change and significant cost cutting and reductions in head count, it is time to start investing in people and training and fostering a positive work culture.

    Pros

Salary OK. Working environment at HSQ is good. HR dept is surprisingly decent (given the world of trouble they have to deal with).

    Cons

Serial under-investment, poor systems, a mountain of debt and constant whittling down of staff (without touching the real problem). The constant problems with the debt suck the life out of any creative solutions the business has to offer. When I was there, everyone who'd been there a while was waiting for their payoff, and everyone more recent (on fixed contracts) were wondering why they were carrying the lifers.
