    Great products and driven leadership

    Manager (Former Employee) Irvine, CA

ProsInteresting novel products, great people. The market space is really interesting. It is amazing when the company brings in patients who were helped by the products. Makes you feel really good about working so hard.

ConsLeadership continues to push all the time to do more with less. There isn't great recognition for the overwhelming successes. Inequities depending on the department you work in. Some departments expect a lot of overtime.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake more time to thank and recognize employees.

Not such a great place to work

Manufacturing Engineer (Current Employee) Plymouth, MN

ProsCompensation is good, most people are friendly, easy to get to, in the medical device field. Lower level employees stick together and help each other out as much as possible

ConsManagement is the good ol' boys club

Terrible Place to Work/be a Slave! You will only get small clues during the interview process. It is a strange place!

Manufacturing Engineer (Former Employee) Irvine, CA

ProsFree starbucks coffee if you have a free moment on a Saturday to get a cup.

ConsVP of Operations is a slash and burn intimidator who discriminates against age and gender. If you are a female or over 40 and are a engineer, cost accountant, production supervisor or manager - look out!!

Advice to Senior ManagementInvestigate the behavior of the VP of Operations. How many employees have you paid off or settled with their lawyer? What is your turnover rate compared to other divsions? How many bad "hires" do you make - are they female or over 40? I tried to tell HR what he was doing to me - made my situation worst.

So much rush so little time

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Irvine, CA

ProsCandid, Starbucks coffee, location near I5

ConsAll management care about is how many products are rushed/jammed and shipped with little concern for product quality.

Advice to Senior ManagementMad rush to develop and ship products half baked barely passing spec will come to haunt you. Hopefully "adults" at Covidien will do some risk management and bring sanity to mad rush to market.

    Corporate America, version ev3.

    Engineer (Current Employee) Minneapolis, MN

ProsProgressive and growing company. Some potential for growth due to increased size. Benefits are OK. Thinks may change with Covidien buying ev3.

ConsIn general, incompetent and/or lazy middle/upper middle management. Very top heavy on the manager through VP positions. Smaller company with big company management problems, lots of bureaucracy, and top down (versus lateral) communication.

Advice to Senior ManagementAs if it matters, clear out the dead wood with managers, directors, and VP's, and get some real leaders in replacement.
