Pros
Really laid back place. Depending who your manager is they will work with your schedule
Cons
Drivers. If you didnt meet the goal then you were written up
Pros
It is flexible and has a fun environment. Fun products and customers. Also, incentives to sell were great. If you are persuasive you are rewarded.
Cons
There is little ability for upward movement as managers tend to stay.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue promoting and rewarding your good sales staff. They will want to stay and make the company money.
Pros
The discounts and listening to music
Cons
The stocking part is no fun
Advice to Senior Management
Nice Job
Pros
Good Medical and decent pay considering it is a mall based store.
Cons
Poor bonus program, no social life
Advice to Senior Management
Leave this sinking ship
Pros
discounts and the knowledge gained. Good environtment to work in, always had fun while working and there was always something to do.
Cons
they never give raises and only pay min. wage. I started there in nov. 2005 and got raises for the first year, after i became seasonal in fall 2007 due to moving away to college, i never saw a raise. i was always set at min. wage due to being seasonal, eventhough i was top notch at sales.
Advice to Senior Management
push for better wages, more hours for associates to work and try to put out better sales for customers. This will bring in more people and bring up the company income. the training for employees has also gone down in value. bring back secret shoppers.
Pros
fun, cool, love of music, awsome place to work when around good people
Cons
DM is not understanding to important issues
Pros
The atmosphere is very relaxed and the customers are almost always in a good mood. It's one of the few jobs I had where I looked forward to going to work. I never had a bad day there.
Cons
It's boring when it gets slow, and it doesn't pay much. If you don't sell what they want you to sell (store discount cards) you will not get many hours.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop trying to fill the store with trinkets, toys, and other junk. Stick to what f.y.e. is known for. Music, movies, and games. You wont increase sales by selling garbage.
Pros
Fun Job
Got to listen to great music
Got to talk about music all day
Great benefits package
Nice Co-Workers
Cons
Poor pay
There was no room for growth (even after being told i was being promoted).
Constant threat of being fired by DM
Advice to Senior Management
Please reward your managers and assistant managers when they take one of the lowest stores in the entire company and then bring it in to the top five in sales.
Pros
Fun depending on who you work with.
The employee discount helped me out a lot.
Extended my knowledge of what movies were out there.
Good for a first job...I guess.
That's it.
Cons
Pushing backstage passes, magazines, and other items that cost extra for the customer if they forget to cancel. I personally felt like I was lying to the customer when I was forced, by the management, to say that they were getting something free. We were only allowed to mention the time limit if asked.
Low pay for the number of hours worked.
Very unwilling to let you leave in case of a family emergency if no one is willing to cover your hours.
At the Raleigh location, driving the Assistant Senior Manager to the bank was a requirement for the job.
Advice to Senior Management
How about you focus on customer service instead of pushing the customer to buy "free" items that will cost money later if they forget to cancel? You fire or make workers resign who love the job and the people just because they aren't pushing customers to buy extra things? That's shady work ethic.
Pros
Friendly people, ability to work with all forms of media
Cons
The sheer stress associated with their quotas.
Advice to Senior Management
Put less pressure on quotas involving memberships.
