I have been working at hibu

ProsGreat work life balance. Office empty by 5 and had flexibility to work from home as often as I wanted

ConsCompany betting on websites. All other products being terminated. With $3 billion in debt the banks are taking over and I fully expect massive layoffs. March 2013 Hibu had a huge round of layoffs and I expect the next round to be brutal. Think French Revolution with blood in the streets. The new CEO was originally hired by the banks to be the chief restructuring officer. A CEO who was hired to get the banks what they want. Company could be great place to work if the threat of layoffs did not have employees in constant fear. Barely a week went by when someone did not mention the fear of a layoff. Environment was pretty toxic.

Wish C level leaders knew what they are doing

Product Manager (Current Employee)
Houston, TX

I have been working at hibu full-time for more than a year

ProsI guess the company is trying really hard to bring the company back on track. The intent is there.

Cons1. C Level executives keep changing direction. Almost to the point that they themselves don't know what they are doing.
2. Product launches take too much time to launch or do not launch at all.
3. every meeting there are a minimum of 40 people on the call out of which 2% effectively contribute.
4. IT is the biggest bottleneck. You want something to be done by the back office teams, better have some very strong contacts in the executive leadership. If your product does not bring in significant revenue, your stuff is not getting prioritized by the executives.
5.

Advice to Senior Managementwith the financial restructuring I am sure results are going to be looked at very closely. You want results??? Get rid of the management and get someone who knows what they are doing

Sales Representative (Former Employee)

I worked at hibu full-time for more than 3 years

ProsIf you do well, management trusts you to run your own schedule

Conspoor products, poor management, no focus on client retention, only new sales - bad business model

Advice to Senior Managementinvest more time is building energetic and intelligent teams

Client Services Representative (Former Employee)
Charlotte, NC

I worked at hibu full-time for more than a year

ProsGood on-going training, ok benefits, customer service reps are ready to answer questions on a sale that you may have.

ConsTrying to sell a product that is over-priced, no management guidance, no opportunity to move up in the company.

Great entry level job

Web Content Writer (Current Employee)
King of Prussia, PA

I have been working at hibu full-time for less than a year

ProsFun and caring coworkers, good benefits package, decent pay for someone with little experience in the industry, actual writing assignments can be fun

ConsToo many tedious processes, company is constantly changing and evolving which leads to confusion for both veteran and new employees

Advice to Senior ManagementStreamline EVERYTHING. There are too many forms to be filled out before, during, and after the website build process, leading to confusion. And really, decide on ONE way to do things instead of changing the process monthly.

Not very organized and lacking direction

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Milwaukee, WI

I have been working at hibu full-time for more than a year

ProsGood starting salary in order to reach goals

ConsToo much micromanaging and non related work that doesn't help rather hinder sales opportunities.

Advice to Senior Managementallow sales force to sell, not force employees to fill out weekly management reports for the managers to copy, paste and submit.

Dazed and Confused....the Hibu Way

Account Executive/Media Consultant (Current Employee)
Honolulu, HI

I have been working at hibu full-time for more than 5 years

ProsIn Hawaii, you can stay on your base salary, not sell a new for 6 months and still get promoted! Or, be an ASM do nothing, manage nobody and be a star!! I have been here for a fair run, and will stay as I do not have to work, go to the office, or worry about the local inept division manager knowing anything about running a sales team. I've been on a highly paid vacation for the past several years....and am at peace, as I have packed a golden parachute.

ConsHibu starts new programs after all other companies have moved on.....they killed their own print market, didn't have any internet products that produce results,

Advice to Senior ManagementAfter losing the only driving top level managers you had...Joe W. Jim M. Victoria S. Hibu has placed in bunch of "yes" men whom do not have a clue as to running a business, yet proclaim that their reps will help SMB's succeed....it is really quite amusing

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
