Pros
Complete independence to control the product. Complete freedom to try out new things in product as long as it aligns with corporate strategy. Best in class products. Awesome people even in the declining days (yes that is correct because now I am comparing them with my new company).
Cons
Couldn't improve sales no matter what. Could be loosely linked to below par senior management. Stopped innovation in the core products for a long period of time. Didn't change the rules of game in the changing SCM market.
Advice to Senior Management
Advice to JDA. Retain the focus on products. Hire the best. Give them freedom and they can really do wonders.
Pros
collaborative and good learning environment as a first job out of school. Was hot in the dot com days and those who rode the stock, made out well
Cons
Lack of any structure or processes on the HR side made it a free for all and the ones who managed to finagle their way, usually ended up in leadership positions. Arguably the downfall of the company as lack of leadership took the company from one fire to the next
Advice to Senior Management
Jack Wilson is no longer in charge. i2 is now part of the JDAS family post acquistion
Pros
* pioneer in supply chain, demand mgmt
* industry best consultants
* exceptionally smart colleagues
* work with large clients and complex problems
Cons
* not very organized and well managed
* not focused
* product innovation is sporadic
* no strong leadership team
Advice to Senior Management
company already sold to JDA
so this is not relevant anymore
better organization should help the company grow and win more customers
Pros
i2 offer a very competitive salary and benefits package. It has competitive products and you will be woking with great people
Cons
Company is not great anymore with lots of bigger competition
Experience at the company is not valued outside
Weak senior management
Advice to Senior Management
The management needs to invest in products and bring them to world standards again. I would highly recommend going down a growth path and not a maintenannce one.
Pros
This was once an amazing place to work but the company fell on hard times and made poor decisions, never really recovering from the dot.com bust.
Cons
The primary downside of working for i2 is uncertainty for the future of the company and of whatever project you might be working on.
Advice to Senior Management
At this point I really wouldn't know where to start. I think the company no longer has a soul. The people managing the company at this time probably look at i2 more as a financial entity then as a company. The current strategy seems to be "keep the cash pile safe for the hedge fund and don't make waves".
Pros
- Open culture
- Opportunity to work with top notch customers
- Complex and challenging supply chain problems
- Smart people
Cons
- too much of org changes
- many top management decisions flopped leading to slow recovery
- Not many of those smart people are around now
Advice to Senior Management
I think it is too late now, hope new strategy would work. Management should have focused on core supply chain products strategy and improved customer usage.
Pros
Used to be a fabulous place with smart people; i2 has good set of products which are still pretty valuable for the clients.
Cons
Over time, i2 market share has deteriorated quite a bit. That has led to limited growth prospects and effectively most good people have left the firm.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to get a good M & A deal through, so the acquiring company can fund the necessary R & D, new talent, and customer reach.
Pros
The real reward of the work here is that you made a difference in the fortunes of your customers - literally.
Cons
Mgmt is clueless on how to use the talent that exists within the workforce
Advice to Senior Management
The company has an incredible group of employees. The company strategy has been "Drift along until ..." but going back to the basics 'Take Care of the Customers" that Ken Sharma pushed would help drive some blood through this zombie of an organization.
Pros
The people in the organization at India were honestly quite bright and smart. The products as such are quite advanced, and for folks in development and consulting , it's a good area to be associated with.
Cons
ORganization did a bad job at attempting to retain talent. Didn't do a good job at integrating their own products well. The i2 market outside then diminishes. didn't use the partners well to spread the use of hte product. Very prone to take-overs.

Pros
This was a company full of smart people, good products that somehow seemed to lose its way. Peers were generally competent and helpful. Considerable flexibility in the way you did your work. Some groups were well run and if you happened to be in one of them, you'd be happy.
Cons
Lack of consistent policies and some very blatant favoritism in promotions. Managers changed frequently and were a hit and miss. Salaries were typically at the low end of market. Some very incompetent managers - people with no leadership skills but who still rose up due to their "connections".
Advice to Senior Management
Senior management really needs to learn the ability to identify the solid contributors from the rest, particularly at the director level and higher.
