  1. Successful company that should pay better attention to the achievers

    Pros

*Successful company that will be viable as long as fee-for-service healthcare remains prevalent
    *Happy clients
    *Interesting work

    Cons

    *The "play your position" mantra
*Success yields more volume or work or more client assignments versus upward mobility, which wouldn't be so bad if do nothing, poor leading charlatans from the outside weren't so prevalent

    Advice to Management

Reward proven achievers and allow people who have given so much to the company better opportunities rather than bring in "leaders" from the outside who take so long (if ever) to ramp up. Please be more mindful that many never do and ride coattails.

  2. Pleasant experience, but recent changes led to restructuring of company initiatives

    Pros

Work-life balance is phenomenal... Middle management were all great individuals and seemed ultimately engaged in the development and growth of the company

    Cons

Upper management seemed very distant and did not seem to care much on the growth of certain programs....The vision for the company seemed to be realigned when iHealth merged with Connolly resulting in reprioritization of what lines of business the new company (iHealth/Connolly) will focus on.....The feeling was that upper management lost interest in fairly new programs once the merger went through.....

    Advice to Management

Keep employees up to date on what's going on with the company....Employees like to be informed of what's going on with the company, the health of the business, and where things are headed.

    Pros

The company provides decent compensation, and with its rapid growth I would expect many more opportunities are going to open up in the future. They took me in with very little job experience with a plan to eventually move me up in the company. If you want to make a living without doing any actual work this is the place for you.

    Cons

Soon before I joined, the company bought out two companies in India and laid off a majority of their staff. When they realized that they still had clients who preferred their work be done on-shore, they were forced to hire (or re-hire) new employees. This is not a company that respects anyone that works for them. You will not learn any job or life skills applicable beyond the confines of their office.

    Advice to Management

Try talking to your employees rather than just treating them like an expendable resource. You may be surprised just how inefficient you are. I spent entire MONTHS staring at an empty desktop, instructed to look busy without ever actually getting anything done.

    Pros

    You collect a pay check

    Cons

Unprofessional, unethical. The organization has undergone many changes---not for the better. They talk about integrity and a caring culture but do not practice it. People continue to lose jobs, as part of the business is now in India.

    Advice to Management

Practice your own mission statement of integrity!

    Pros

There can be work-life balance in the sense that some management allows you to WFH.

    Cons

There is a drawback to WFH - you'll find yourself working for hours on end beyond the requisite 8 because there is so much work and it always has to be done "yesterday".
One day you may have a job, the next it will be outsourced.

    Advice to Management

communicate with those that actually do the job before implementing changes based solely on what management thinks is an acceptable solution.

    Pros

Health care industry is relatively stable. Work from home (limited) and flex time.

    Cons

Business doesn't know what they want, leadership doesn't know how to lead, IT thinks they know best for everything. You are unlikely to get any stake in the company. You will be expected to work over 40 hours on a regular basis, but at least you can do some of this from home. Not a lot of room for career growth.

    Advice to Management

Instead of posting fake 5-star reviews on glassdoor, try fixing your employee satisfaction for real.

    Pros

Working as a team with other highly trained and knowledgeable employees. Cutting edge approaches to healthcare reimbursement/payment policy. Descent salary, descent reasonably affordable healthcare benefits. The only reason I gave the company a 'Neutral' overall rating was because of one manager who really walked the walk, and talked the talk. Their advice and guidance made up for the rest.

    Cons

Management lopsided with testosterone. Quickly became apparent that the rules only applied to the staff and not management. Cutting edge became bleeding edge when upper management promised so many modifications that the system became a nightmare to maintain and operate. Especially related to customization for the more 'powerful' management members. Software update/release cycle made the customization and promised modifications mind numbing to manage.

    Advice to Management

See above. You are not above the rules. Your behavior is watched and this results directly in the rapid decline in morale and general satisfaction - even if only one or two of you are misbehaving. The staff believes that the bad behavior of the worst offenders in upper management, represents all upper management. The begin to believe that the rest of you simply haven't been caught yet.

    Pros

Flexible work hours-- for the management. They can take PTO and not claim it and they monitor every aspect of your work day.

    Cons

If you find any problems your the one to blame. One minute they will praise you, the next minute your written up. Jealousy, and inadequate management.
