I have been working at iParadigms full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

No boiler room sales style environment. I feel a sense of pride, accomplishment and excitement about selling Turnitin and iThenticate. Great work-life balance and great benefits.
Excited about the company future growth.

    Cons

There are always challenges in any work environment especially in a quota driven Inside Sales Account Manager position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep exploring about adding new products to the iParadigms offerings in the future.I am proud to see the evolution of Turnitin over the years.

I have been working at iParadigms full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good work life balance. Coworkers are smart and have great sense of humor. Close to bart. Great benefits/bonus. On site massage.

    Cons

Old/brittle technology. Poor communications. Promotion path is slow and poorly defined. Constant process change decreases velocity. Little professional development.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take ownership and make hard decisions. Invest in manager people skills -currently there is no training. Stop building new stuff and make the current system robust and reliable.

I worked at iParadigms full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Soda, candy, fruit snacks. Dress how you want. Good medical and dental (and vision). Unlimited sick time. Friendly support and marketing staff.

    Cons

I left the sales department because it was too stressful. People were put on action plans for asking for help or asking questions about strategy of inexperienced managers. You leave with the same skills you brought with you. The managers are inexperienced and dont develp you. There is a lot of gossip and managers undermine each other. They have secret meetings all the time and you dont know who will be fired next. They even talk about other departments disrespectfully. The sales team is treated like kids and expect to be insulted. If you have ideas they dont care. If you have a bad territory they dont care. When there is a problem the managers will act surprised because they arent paying attention to when the people complain and ask for help. Human Resources doesnt care much either. They make promises about growth and promotions but never keep them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get new management. The managers now control and intimidate. They are too close to each other and are relaxed and dont try. New faces will lessen the fear and stress and help people grow.

I have been working at iParadigms full-time

    Pros

no dress code, no sick policy, great health benefits, no internet monitoring, loaner computers, massage once per month, non-competitive sales environment

    Cons

Chaos of startup moving to corporate culture. Many employees leaving sales in 2014. Lot of office gossip and politics, emotional and autocratic management style, no structure, no training and development, cussing and offensive language is normal, less perks than before, very insecure and unhappy workforce. Feedback isnt appreciated, bad-mouthing other departments is normal, lots of infighting. Outside departments are territorial. HR department is combative and inexperienced. Better working conditions are 15 minutes away in San Francisco

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create training and structure. Require internal (employee survey) and external (internal customers) evaluations of managers. Hire experienced outside managers to break politics.

I worked at iParadigms full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

friendly environment, great location, clean organized well run office, good communication from upper management, regular opportunities to talk with your manager

    Cons

though its smaller it isn't a startup, there are systems in place and so things are not as fluid as other tech companies. Probably a good thing that comes with having a large customer base that relies on your product, but it is a different feel.

I have been working at iParadigms full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is fiiled with many smart people who care deeply about education. The culture is very collegial and open and devoid of negative politics. Good pay, benefits, and work/life balance. The business is experiencing strong growth and serves a huge number of institutions, instructors and students.

    Cons

The office environment is quieter and the industry (education) slower moving than traditional tech companies. The company has a lot of customers and technology that has been in place for a long time which makes it less agile than start-ups.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work!
