    Pros

iProspect was the ideal first job for me - the initial training program is highly professional and comprehensive, ensuring a smooth transition into the work. iP holds weekly office-wide educational and info sharing sessions which are engaging and insightful. I have earned jobs based on my experiences at iP.

The company regularly holds fun office events (field days, scavenger hunts, team bonding nights), and fosters a highly social community.

    Cons

The actual work can be frustrating, dull and one-dimensional, but this is entirely due to the agency's specialty (primarily PPC advertising). Most employees leave within 2-3 years in order to expand their skill sets and receive exposure to other marketing channels.

Staff including junior management (meaning sub-Director level) are a bit underpaid given the hours worked, but this may have changed since I left. Hours per week can hit the 50-60 range depending on the client.

    Advice to Management

Continue to expand on learning opportunities - promote marketing conferences and trips to staff.

    Pros

Working with large brands, getting familiar with PPC management software, (DS3 kenshoo, marin etc)

    Cons

No where to grow, turnaround is really, really, high. Not doing any creative advertising, just bare bones to get the job done.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better by paying them more, offer more opportunities to expand your career. Hire people that know the industry they're working for.

    Pros

    -Brand name clients
    -Beautiful office
    -Pretty good culture
    -Some nice people

I knew search advertising when I came to iProspect, but when I left, I REALLY knew search advertising. iProspect is a great place to learn and grow your skills, but most people don't stick around for long. I was there for less than a year, which was just enough time to master my skills and move on to another company.

    Cons

Salary is well below the industry standard.

If you work on one of the retail brands, be prepared to work over 100 hours a week, with no compensation for overtime. A lot of the teams are also very catty and there is always drama going on, whether you want to be involved in it or not.

    Advice to Management

I hope the new structure works out well for the employees and managers. Thanks for helping me better my skills, it definitely wasn't the worst job I've ever had.

    Pros

Great experience learning SEM and getting to work on Fortune 500 clients. I really appreciated the structure around training and quality assurance. These are things I've carried forward into other parts of my career. "Fun" benefits included open bar holiday parties, and other holiday and social events. Bring your dog to work day, company bake-off, cube decorating etc. These were all fun things that helped contribute to the company culture. Also appreciated nice quarterly bonuses that everyone was eligible for.

    Cons

Sometimes unqualified individuals got promoted which was bad for company culture and also the clients who received poor services. Pay raises began to stagnate, which is why I left in my later years. Company wasn't great about sharing information- lots of secrets until the last possible moment when they had to tell.

    Advice to Management

Don't forget where you come from and maintain quality service for your clients.

  6. Create cross-channel strategies for Fortune 500 companies.

    Pros

Some of the best people you'll work with/hang out with
Thorough training, open atmosphere so feel free to ask questions
    Casual office
    Big clients
They trust interns with quite a lot

    Cons

    Understaffed, overworked
    Salaries aren't competitive
Some concern among entry- and mid-level employees of poor management/communication

    Advice to Management

I know it's typical for agencies to only hire as needed, but consider adding more to the workforce, especially for clients that are particularly picky/needy

    Pros

Learn a lot and was trained very well.
Huge clients that give you a lot of opportunity to use the latest technology and work with the best
    Fun & energetic office
    Work hard/ play hard atmosphere

    Cons

    -Paid below market value
-Promotions are difficult to come by because the accounts you are assigned to and whether or not they can fund a promotion determine much of your destiny.
-High churn rate, not because the company is bad, but because recruiters will pound your linkedin inbox with better opportunities before you get promoted. The average life span I have witnessed in the office is about 1.5 yrs.

-My advice to a future iprospecter is that after 1-2 years of being a specialist or account lead you can do anything you want in the digital marketing field. The company name and clients you will work on will make you desirable to most recruiters. Think of being underpaid as the trade-off and dont stay too long.
