I have been working at iRise full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great team of really smart people, yet you get to work independently. Lots of travel opportunities and a chance to work with the latest technologies. One day you might be in Thailand, another day in the UK.

    Cons

Lots of travel means less time at home, some months you may be traveling 100 percent. The employees usually book their own travel and logistics which can be time consuming if you are doing it every week. But the reimbursements are quick and hassle free.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop a very clear strategy for who your end customer really is. It is easier to sell a product that end users are enthusiastic about.

    Pros

Small company vibe, work from home, learn a lot. It pays well, and you get some great knowledge about solution selling.

    Cons

Hard to get a good company culture working from home, go to market strategy may need to shift to stay relevant. Some people can difficult to work with, and the company historically values sales talent over all else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more on engineering than anything else. Make an amazing product and focus on ease of use, not features.

I have been working at iRise full-time

    Pros

Smart folks across the board and a cool transformational technology.

    Cons

Times are a changing. iRise is no longer the lone soldier at the top of the heap. They need to be willing to evolve their strategy, messaging, and pricing to stay in the game. They also need a real enablement program to keep software from becoming shelfware. To create stickiness you need more than just product training. Their stubbornness and "know it all" attitude will keep them from being profitable.

I worked at iRise full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You can work from home, pay is good, and everyone is very nice

    Cons

They're not doing well. They haven't been profitable in 3 years and keep having layoffs. Not a lot of room for advancement either. There isn't any culture because everyone works remotely.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would focus on changing the product. It's too expensive and people aren't willing to pay what you want for it.

I worked at iRise full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Salaries are pretty good at least in the consulting division (the iRise product division is separate and has it's own salary structure). If you need GC, it's a decent place to earn it in.

    Cons

The office in El Segundo is in a great location, but avoid the kitchen/microwave area - it stinks. The company seems to be in perpetual start-up mode - it was founded in 1996, and probably still looking to go IPO.

    Pros

The engineering team is a small group of talented and dedicated professionals, I learned from everyone there. There is great collaboration and cooperation between teams. The company offers unique customer products in an interesting problem space. There is the opportunity to work on a broad variety of challenges.

    Cons

The common issues with being a small business, pursuing new business, seeking broader market recognition and adoption, trying to make people understand the benefit of the solutions offered.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to focus on revenue generation and on next generation solutions to enable rapid evolution and adoption of the products. Make quality a key concern in all product and engineering decisions.

    Whip-sharp people - especially in sales/pre-sales
    Fantastic and enthusiastic customer base
    Sales-centric organization

    Cons

I worked at iRise full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

When the company made money, things looked and felt good. If you are in sales, the company has a decent reimbursement and per-diem policy. Also, it has an Ok engineering team with some young crowd.

    Cons

My interview process was interesting. Met quite a few interesting people who said several promising things. So obviously, when you are coming to the company for the first time, things will look good, very rosy. Once I accepted the offer, the initial first few weeks felt fine. Just a few weeks later, I could smell the true nature of iRise. There's trouble every where in every department.

If you are associated with sales, you are always "targeted". Just after 3 months of being there, I could see how people change. The real picture is that if you are in sales, you are always vulnerable every day. And believe me, when I say every day will feel like your last day in the company. There will not be any peace.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your management is unable to manage the company. Do some shuffling, bring new and efficient people.

I have been working at iRise full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Industry leading pay and a dynamic environment. Engineering team is top notch delivering an amazing product. The company has a big enough footprint to offer exciting travel opportunities, including travel to Europe and Asia for sales and consulting professionals.

    Cons

If you work in Sales or Professional Services there is extensive travel required. Most consultants travel Monday through Friday, sometimes Sunday to Friday. The product lacks direction and has been slow to adapt to some market realities. However this is being mitigated and a bolder product with a much richer feature set is on the way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs concrete vision based in reality of the marketplace and solving the real challenges of the customers. The visualization process is a game changer, however the real problem customers have is managing their projects and their documentation. Pay more attention to defining a product that works with existing SDLC processes within organizations and solves the pain points of documentation and review of requirements.
