I worked at inVentiv Health as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Worked with a group of interns on a project for the company. Very chill work environment, the projects were fun and our manager was constantly providing encouragement and support to us interns.

    Cons

Direction of what we were supposed to be doing sometimes was not clear. Other than that, it was really a pleasure to work at inVentiv.

I worked at inVentiv Health as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Great pay, hard working co-workers, fun office environment, structured and professional. All of the perks of working for a big, corporate design firm.

    Cons

Creative work in this field is by nature, not the most glamorous. Plenty of engaging concepts are developed initially, and usually watered down to their safest, most clinical form.

I worked at inVentiv Health full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The salary is good and benefits were top notched. Co-workers were nice for the most part.

    Cons

A lot of people with big egos to deal with. Middle management and some upper management need to do a self-check. They act like they care about the people who work under them, but they really don't. Job security is not the best.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start really valuing your workers as you claim you do.

inVentiv Health has morphed from a passion-driven organization into a fiscally-focused uninspired company.

I have been working at inVentiv Health full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

There is general job security if you follow protocol, pay scale is good, portions of the company have maintained their cultures through the VC take over

    Cons

Clinical division is a fiscal drain and organizational disaster, commercial team is underleveraged and lacks innovation, the consulting business is slow to adapt and lacks strong leadership. Bonus structure has been revamped to quarterly payouts-- all employees distressed by this blatant attempt to hold cash

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please bring back the passion-driven values and inspiring leadership

I have been working at inVentiv Health full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Decent pay, at least in Columbus, OH, you can hide out and do nothing and get paid

    Cons

Management and ownership (Thomas H. Lee Partners) are only concerned with putting a bow on the package before they sell the whole mess. The prevailing strategy of trying to "cross sell" services is laughable, as our clients don't buy that way but like I said, it's all about positioning it for resale. This short term view will ultimately bring this company down, as it is highly-leveraged.

The whole IT team was let go and replaced by a cheaper Indian company, healthcare benefits have been slashed (and this is a healthcare company!!), there's no day care or fitness and only a few upper managers get meaningful bonuses.

The advertising agency, GSW, in Columbus is poorly run and morale is terrible. The creative all looks the same and is tied to agency egos, not selling products or services. The account service teams are all stooges for their dim clients with little to offer in the way of real strategies.

Expect continuing layoffs, cutbacks and a sale, when a chump is found.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You can't give advice to those consumed with "flipping" the company. They don't care about the employees or the long-term health of inVentiv, only a return on their investment.

I have been working at inVentiv Health full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people, used to get good raises and bonuses.

    Cons

Since we were bought out, everything has changed. Morale is terrible as everyone just waits for the next shoe to drop. No one knows what is going on, or who is running things. No one wants to take responsibility for anything, management is almost non-existent, but lots of chiefs at the top getting fat.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I don't think there's anything that can be done until someone buys us who actually cares about the people.

    Pros

Used to have a good culture, well run departments with people who cared. Compensation used to be fair with good benefits.

    Cons

    THL
    LibertyLane capital partners
Outsourcing or staffing internal departments with inept people
Cutting of salary and benefits while execs get millions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You're incompetent capitalists. Stop destroying the company.

Great company but completely driven by financials instead of the work being produced.

I have been working at inVentiv Health

    Pros

The people and solving healthcare challenges are major bonuses. There are many opportunities to try new job opportunities or help out in different areas of interest to see if it sticks.

    Cons

The organization is completely and utterly run by financials. Every decision has a financial overtone to it. There are far too many chiefs and not enough Indians.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to your people and do not take them for granted. Actually give reviews and complete goal setting and career assesments. These have for some reason become just a piece of paperwork that nobody even tracks, but they are important to employees.
