    I worked at macys.com part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun retail experience. Loved working with customers. Great discounts on clothes. Bought high end shoes super cheap. Fairly good hourly wage.

    Cons

Grumpy customers. Short break time, not enough time to eat lunch or dinner. Air conditioning never seemed to work well, especially in the summer months.

    Advice to Management

Organize and keep your store clean. Big sale weekends meant clothes and shoes all over the floor and cloths placed on the wrong racks. Dressing rooms a complete disaster.

    Pros

Steady hours, can actually acquire a good paycheck. Can be fun if you have good coworkers and managers. Need customer service skills.

    Cons

Not the greatest hourly pay. Customers can be a pain but that is with any retail or customer service job.

    Advice to Management

Make all employees feel important. They are your biggest value to the company. Value them and they will work harder.

I have been working at macys.com full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good people. Job security. Can be somewhat flexible schedule. They do not like people working from home. They provide a lot of development courses. The eCommerce side is the better side.

    Cons

Very low salary. You have to pretty much hustle to get a somewhat decent increase. By hustle, I mean you have take on a load of extra work. Merit increase are a complete joke. Only Directors and above qualify for bonuses, unless, you are on the merchant side. Promotions are hard or nearly impossible to come by. I have never seeing so many people quit in my career in just one year. You get use to seeing new faces due to this. Management are always making last minute changes. You will likely end up doing the same task 5 to 8 times over. Not because you did it wrong, but because they decided to change their mind. This creates a load of stressful and toxic situations amongst peers no matter how good or nice people are.

    Advice to Management

People don't quit because is a bad company but poor management.
