    Good place to start off career but limited scope for growth

    Pros

    1.Excellent workplace, infrastructure and ISMS certified.
    2.Good work life balance if you are based in Kolkata HO, not applicable for on site in client premises.
    3.Relatively young median age makes it fun and exciting to work.
    4. Well defined SBU's, line & staff functions, mission , vision & goals
    5.Social security & family covered under insurance.
    6. Ample amount of training & development.
    7. Timely salary disbursal.
    8. Yearly increment policy based on the bell curve.
    9. Supposedly transparent performance management system.Skip level meetings.
    10. Flexible office timing to an extent.

    Cons

    1. Organizational structure is weak.
    2. Employee KRA often not aligned to company's strategic objectives.
    2.Limited motivational factors, high level of dissatisfaction among team members.Poor Hygiene factors of motivation.
    3. Appraisals and variable pays & promotions have no coonection. A 1 rater maybe a star performer & get a 15% hike while another 2 rater maybe a solid citizen and get 25%.Yet to deduce the logic...regression..bivariate..poisson..binomial??? You need to be lucky to be in the right SBU.
    4. Pareto analysis holds true.. 30-40% workforce execute 60-70% of workload.Uneven & illogical work distribution.
    5. Most of the mid & top management follow the produce or perish style of leadership.Too many heads or leaders.Yet to understand if the co. Follows MBO, MBWA etc..
    6. No predictability in job profile.You maybe recruited for sales and end up in operations & vice versa.
    7. Very poor HR policies. In a conflict with SBU, forget about support from HR.
    8.No bonuses, performance linked variable pay which is a part of CTC. Need to negotiate hard on the agreed CTC.
    9. Promotions are illogical and scarce..you may remain in the same designation for 5 years and keep hoping.
    10. Business products and services offered by mj are slowly becoming common in the market with new players entering everyday.No new products or services launched in the last ..not sure how many years.Lacking innovation.. need some fresh concepts & ideas from outside.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Need to value employees better specially in the lower levels of hierarchy.
    Hire people from all across India to bring in more diversity in the thought process.
    Increase motivational factors and recognize true potentials of workers. Practise what is preached.

    Pros

    Its a good paymaster compared to other organizations in Kolkata. Its good for starters and has good employee benefits for Senior Management only as most policies intend to benefit senior management only

    Cons

    1) Erratic HR policies. 2) Most Non Transparent HR policies rules & processes. 3) KRAsare set after appraisal cycles. 4) Only chosen people are repeatedly benefit of the policicies and frequent changes in policies happen. 5) There are too many organization changes. 6) No recognition to performance or loyalty 7) Senior Management is directionless and non decisive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1) Proper career paths should be drawn for every individual 2) Promotions should be based on performance & loyalty to the organization. 3) Transparent method of HR policies should framed. 4) Employee benefits should be such that it motivates employees to innovate. 5) Before recruiting new people in important positions they must be properly evaluated post which important positions should be given after they have gelled well with organization culture.

    Pros

    1. Great infrastructure
    2. Nice office timings
    3. Offers employees to think out of the box and give suggestions
    4. A female friendly organization
    5. Being associated with the TATA group, it offers chance to interact and share ideas with people from all around the TATA group through idea-sharing platforms, events and brainstorming sessions.

    Cons

    1. HR policies are very poor
    2. Very few holidays, specially for executive trainees
    3. Upper Management is a bit stubborn when it comes to policy-making
    4. Salary can be a little higher
    5. The office environment is a little too formal

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Recruit people and assign them according to the skill sets they possess.
    2. Involve the new recruitees in relevant projects corresponding to their study background instead of making them work in irrelevant fields.
    3. The executive trainees should be given at least a few holidays and be allowed to choose their own areas of interest on which they would like to be involved.

    The people are intelligent, hard working and freindly
    Upper management are easily accessible
    Good learning experience
    Is a CMMI Level 5 company

    Cons

    Limited number of projects which become monotonous after certain time
    Not much room for growth in the company
    Really bad HR policies
    Increments not based on performance

    Make processes more transparent. Senior Management needs a overhaul and get fresh ideas.

    Can give you a good learning exp, provided you have a good manager.

    Cons

    HR sucks, A typical unprofessional public sector working mentality, Good to start but leave as soon as you can. No transparency in any process although it claims to be transparent...

    Please do not lie about the company when you hire someone. Please restructure the management lattice, too many mangers across and nobody to manage.

    Pros

    Best Workplace,Good Learning Place, Leave, Comfort, Friendly Colleague and Boss, Facilities , Holidays.

    Cons

    Being an associate (Off-Payroll) hard to decide "Should I find Better Job" or "Work Harder".
    Officially 3 years for company absorption may cost you 6 yrs or more. Its Uncertain.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Huge Differences in salary at same level (Off Play roll) is frustrating. Need to maintain a standard salary slab.
