Pros
It is certainly where realities and fundamentals are more valued and feedback is considered honestly, that's where you are heard and your views are discussed.
Cons
Not much beyond a single product, all toiling towards it while creativity has bitten to dust. Definitely not a hot and happening place, being a veteran in the field, legacy problems haunt it lot than finding a way out.
Advice to Senior Management
As with many companies, management has been late to realize that businesses go through cycles. Prudence in decision making and spending the money just and right is what is needed all through the life of a business.
Except the top management, middle managers are shallow and never bother to take up the charge, probably the very reason that they knew there is no progress further up.
Pros
A diverse place with people from many different cultures and backgrounds.
Flexible and open channel to management. Some members of the management
are genuinely nice people. Easy to gain recognition for a job well-done.
Many bright and hardworking employees make it a competent company.
Cons
For a consumer software company, muvee is still very much driven by
an engineering mindset. The emphasis on both product and visual design
is also lacking. At one point in time, muvee's entire creative department
was either fired or left the company. It has also continuously failed to hire
great designers in its 7 years of operation.
Advice to Senior Management
muvee needs to hire more thought leaders and senior visual designers.
muvee also needs to place a designer on the management team so
that design has a voice in the entire product cycle. muvee also needs to
seek out positive criticisms from end users instead of continuously trumpet
only praises.
