I have been working at nTelos full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

nTelos is a good company to work for - probably the best compared to what else is around its headquarters. It is good at hiring from within, and a company in which you can advance with a decent work ethic.

    Cons

The company is a little lack-luster in its benefits, although it does offer free cell service which is a plus. You don't get a third year of vacation until the year of your sixth anniversary, which is a long time compared to what other companies offer. While nTelos hires from within, it does not go out of its way to show appreciation to long-term employees. This is demonstrated by the mediocre pay raises throughout the years and the fact they will hire someone off the street at the "going rate" but only give an internal employee a slight raise if they move into the same position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you're doing, but go out of your way for your long term employees.

I have been working at nTelos full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Excellent work/life balance. Lots of creative freedom.

    Cons

    Low morale.

Sometimes the bureaucracy is difficult to navigate.

2014 was a year of sweeping changes, so the future is uncertain.

Draconian IT policies and rigid enforcement of dress code.

    I worked at nTelos full-time

    Pros

Flexible schedule, allowed telecommuting when necessary, good work-life balance, competitive pay

I was able to work remotely when needed (due to weather, family needs, etc). I was given the freedom to adjust my schedule when needed to account for other things as well (within reason of course).

    Cons

extremely stressful, no real commitment from the business on projects, poor management, practically falling apart in recent months

The last year or so there, everything became extremely stressful. There were high expectations given with unrealistic deadlines and without any guidance whatsoever.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Commit to something and stick with it at least long enough to fully implement and evaluate its effectiveness before changing directions!

I worked at nTelos full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

nTelos has an absolutely fabulous community of people to work with, there are ample opportunities for advancement with some effort, and there's a visibility to upper management that you don't get at a lot of other companies.

    Cons

As a company, nTelos has always been focused on the more rural areas of its coverage map, in an effort to promote a community oriented brand image. I believe they could have done more to promote that image in their more urban markets as well.

    I worked at nTelos full-time

    Pros

Can be a fun work environment at times, depending on the store atmosphere. If you hustled out of your mind then you could make an honest living, but if you hustle that hard you may as well work somewhere else that is actually rewarding. But it is a job with security as long as you show effort and dont absolutely suck.

    Cons

Retail Life, deal with customers giving you attitudes and being rude for stuff you did not do and have no control over. Retail hours Mon-Sat 10am-8pm sometimes you wont leave the store until after 9pm, Sun 11am-6pm. Holiday hours the stores close at 9pm. Very low hourly rate and not a rewarding commission structure. Sales are almost luck of the draw depending on who approaches the right person at the right time. Spring through Summer is the slow season so less opportunities to make commission. Not very much opportunity for growth

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Would be easier for reps if management did not hesitate to help with escalations that are on the sales floor
