    I worked at qatar airways

    Pros

    tickets, benefits, multi cultural environement. Opportunity to learn and improve yourself. Accomodation/transportation provided, utilties included.

    Cons

    short breaks, understaffed.Management very strict and regulations are very tight. The staff in my department were overloaded with work, frustrated and pushed to their limits. Some managers had no experinece whatsoever and were ony promoted due to their connections

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    some departments are understaffed

    Expanding company so many opportunity to join;
    Lots of people get fire so opens up new opportunity to move internally and stay safe;
    Recruitment proces slow and inefficient but getting better;
    Good place to learn from Westerner;

    Cons

    Company resistance to change;
    HR is very inefficient and only support process not people;
    Totally fear culture, can get fire any time for any reason, even not justified;
    My friend got fire cus on other people gossip, such a bad;
    I know a VP got fire cos he argue about his vacation, poor man, he was so good;
    The outside image of the airline has no mirror to the inside of working in the airline;
    Salary and benefits are poor by comparison to other Qatar companies;
    Qatari people get paid more and are less efficient and do most gossip;

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Doesn't matter, they won't listen anyway as they are weak and scared of being fired themself.

    Former Employee - Customer Service Agent With German in Wrocław (Poland)

    I worked at qatar airways

    Pros

    - coworkers from my language group (friendly and helpful)
    - ,,prestigious" company (at least looks good in the CV)
    - using language skills on a daily basis

    Cons

    - Amadeus reservation system - working with a command page isn't effective in such a busy and stressing environment, with many calls and cases to solve. Using it is extremely time consuming (not only my opinion!). My advice for the company - invest in a reservation system with a clear interface. That would be faster, generate less errors and customers won't have to wait that long on the phone just to book a ticket or to rebook it. And last but not least - you won't need to waste so much time and money to teach newbies on how to use it (at the moment Amadeus training lasts 1 month!)
    - low salary - for Polish workers it might be ,,pretty attractive", since it's not a minimum rate that they are used to (as they were saying), but for the foreigners.... ,,Thank you" as a prize for the agents with the best sales result? Are we in a kindergarten? You won't pay for your flat and for the food with ,,thank you"...
    - definitely not a place to grow
    - ,,helpline workers" are not available constantly, but randomly - therefore team leaders, which are already overworked, have to help other workers to solve the most difficult cases.
    -control freaks - everything you do is recorded (when do you log in/out to/from the system, phone calls, the time that you use for lunch, toilet breaks, the time between calls - should be as short as possible..etc.). You should be as fast as possible, if not - you will shortly get the ,,feedback" from operations department or your team lead.
    - forget about Christmas, New Year's Eve, Easter etc. Of course you can always inform the company that you would like to have days-off during that days and if you're lucky, ,,the system" will choose you as the person who won't be working during that time. If not...well.
    - since the rotation in the company is just crazy, they decided to stop the newest workers from leaving by asking them to sign an agreement that if they leave the company before the first contract will expire (6 months), they have to pay to the company a certain amount of money ,,for the training".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Please do something with the chaos within the company:
    - helpline workers should be available for the workers every day, not from time to time - team leads have their own things to do and they are not always able to help.
    - Employee satisfaction survey would be a nice idea - there are plenty of people planning to leave the company very soon. It won't be good for QA to have unexperienced Customer Service workers all the time - that will generate plenty of complaints
    - roaster and lunch breaks - people are sick and tired of ,,all depends on the system" explanation. Really? Nobody is responsible for that?

    Pros

    You will experience the diversify large cross culture team and environment. It is a good experience to learn the job out there, outside your home country. Get to know many international friends. The salary is good and competitive. You can enjoy traveling benefit and great living cost (not accommodation), cheap fuel and car.

    Cons

    Heat and dry weather. Difficult attitude of local people. Seldom discussed with career path. No life style and around. Recruiting process internal and external can be a pain. Turn over very high and terminating within 24 hours can happen around you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Difficulty in interacting with multiple nationalities, which improves skills and focus

    Cons

    Discrepancy in the standards of quality in employees background: some are overqualified and some are underqualified

    Former Employee - Flight Attendant in Doha (Qatar)

    I worked at qatar airways full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great benefits and salary, international experience, paid accommodation and utility bills, fast promotions, environment for deep personal growth. Customer service and vip experience. Mixed environment prone to good friendships.

    Cons

    Leadership and direct management are mostly not educated to degree levels and lack professionalism. Company imposes many rules, including ones pertinent to you own social live (all disclosed at time of hire).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Managerial positions, such as flight director, should be based on qualifications, not only seniority. Company rules towards employee's social life must be change in order to decrease dissatisfactions rate.
