    Pros

Great Manager, though it varies from office to office
Legal Team was quick in getting contracts back
Selling voice was a major pain, had to go through hoops and all sorts of paperwork with customers for porting
    Products are par to none

    Cons

Territory was terrible (had one tenth of the infrastructure to sell as other markets, yet the same quota)
Territories based on HQ, however there were little to no enterprise HQ accounts where I was
Somewhat of a high turnover, however my management kept and fought for people who actually sell
Recently acquired by Level3, left shortly afterwards

    Pros

Local team from sales to operations worked hard to get the job done an keep the customer happy. Big company but still had a small company feel because you could walk down the hall and talk with a person you needed to get the task accomplished.

    Cons

Once things left the local market, things would tend to bog down at the corporate level. Felt as if sometimes there was no sense of responsibility from corporate as they were more interested in completing a task than making sure it was done right.

    Advice to Management

Keep working together at the local level to understand what is going on in each market. Get feedback and use that info to get a better sense of what the field needs to make them more successful.

    Pros

All cultures have their pros and cons. At tw the Leadership was very stable and very focused on their customers and employees. That is an unbeatable combination that drives collaboration, community and results.

    Cons

Some decisions seemed "too nice" and real accountability was hard to find. But when anything started to "go south" everyone rallied together to get it done. It worked.

    Advice to Management

It will be a hard act to follow...

    Pros

Sheltered from so much of the rest of telecom madness; they had solid products, very smart sales reps, smart expansion methods, and a surprisingly unified back office for all its quirks and annoyances. Don't think we ever saw a layoff. Let the idea people do their thing in many cases, and gave them rewards. It was clear near the end though they were pulling back (the acquisition soon answered why). Love or hate it, Larissa and a stable C-team there from the beginning set a specific strategy, course and culture, again very unique in the telecom world.

As the good times came to an end, the management did their best to take care of the employees who were being thrown into the Level 3 Colosseum, though they refused a lot of severance packages that should have been granted knowing that Level 3 was going to get rid of them one way or another, anyway.

    Cons

Bought by a bad actor in the telecom space. Mediocre company, mediocre leadership, mediocre results, and mediocre vision. Although it won't be advertised, there were and are plenty of layoffs going on, and it will only escalate as time goes on. tw telecom had many chances to grow and advance, and their conservative approach ended up getting the best of them. There was a vision for the future that was well underway, and they let it slip away. Another result of an impatient and petulant, ignorant shareholder base and probably Board, as well. The tw employee base is already waking up to the debacle of Level 3 a mere 2 months in, and will soon find themselves very lost and abandoned.

    Advice to Management

Larissa, thank you for all you did for us and for the space and our customers. I wish we had been ready to keep taking on the challenges before us, but I guess I get it.
