Was Great, OK now, Could be Awesome in the not too distant future

    Sales (Former Employee)

ProsEmployees are great, Middle Management so so, Upper management very visionary
Lot's of changes for the better (IMHO) coming. If you are in sales, either coast, TX or GA is where you want to be.

ConsTargets the same for everyone, regardless of location. If you are a place where there are local or state subsidies to lower the cost then that is good. If not, you will face a steep upward battle to hit your numbers.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't believe all the hype. Pay close attention to those in the revenue stream. A lot of dead wood was let go over the last 1.5 years, but now there is a lot of new "dead wood" and some of the cream is let go or leaving voluntarily.

Changed from caring about the customer as a person to a pure game of how many units were sold.

    Project Manager (Former Employee)

ProsFormerly; the ability to adapt to the nuances of the local market while having the strength of a national company for resources and price efficiency.

ConsNo promotional opportunities. Toxic relationship between Business development and Projects (both compete for the same customers to satisfy individual performance goals - fosters in-fighting rather than cooperation). Cronyism is rampant. Changes to upper management take decades.

Advice to Senior ManagementGo back to your roots. Tend your customers as individuals and people and the growth will follow. Go for a quota and ignore the personal relationships forged over years and you will be engaged in a race to the bottom and eventual extinction.

    Mixed Review

    Account Coordinator (Former Employee)
    Phoenix, AZ

ProsGood for the environment, economy and the well-being of commuters. Saves money, time and stress for those who have a long commute. Easy, flexible and reliable transportation for the fraction of the cost of commuting alone.

ConsThe communication and fair management practices are lacking. The management in my office was run by "best friends", so it was hard to relate problems or communicate effectively due to the "favoritism" and inequality of assignments. Company was moving away from the "one-on-one" individual attention and excellent customer service it was known for, to all "Sales" vision - with an emphasis on numbers. They were moving away from a "one-stop shop" to 800 numbers and further and further away from the "Personal Touch" of making each customer feel important.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease be more aware of the "cut-throat" employees and those who truly care for the clients and customers that are being served. Try not to forget the individual customer and the "long-term" relationship that builds a strong base for the business. A happy customer will be the best advertisement you can have!

Not what it used to be...

    Project Manager (Former Employee)

ProsOriginally; you got to run your project as you saw fit. You were responsible for your profit/loss and keeping everything legal.

ConsVery conservative company with very little promotional opportunity until someone retired or died.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you don't look after your people and your customers, your competition will.

    VPSI Work life

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Marietta, GA

ProsA leader in the industry. A tendency to try to the right thing rather than the expedient.

ConsYou will work as many hours as it takes, given the tendency to under staff, hours will be very long.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere is a need for more recognition and the opportunity for growth on the company.

    Toxic Work Environment

    Business Development Executive (Former Employee)

ProsFor most workers in the company, the job is relatively low stress. VPSI had a great Manager's meeting every year when I was there. VPSI gives employees two full weeks off at Christmas and New Years, and that was always very cool.

ConsWhen I was at VPSI, the structure of the company lent itselt to a toxic relationship between the office Managers and the Business Development Executives. I started as a Manager and was later promoted to Business Development Executive. Both parties were held accountable for acquiring new business, so it let to a guys from the same company competing for the same customers. The situation led to many hard feelings among the employees. Also, since office Managers were busy competing with the Business Development Executives for business, the customer service for the existing customers suffered. This toxic relationship went on for years and the upper managament never saw it as a problem. It was too bad.

Advice to Senior ManagementThey Management team needs new blood. There is very little change among the Management team over the years, and very few new ideas, other than an online ride matching program that costs millions to develop while providing very little return (so far).

It was OK-before all the changes of 2012

    Account Coordinator (Former Employee)

    ProsCasual culture
    They don't fire people

    ConsZero advancement opportunities
    Low pay
Expensive benefits-$240/month for a single person

Advice to Senior ManagementThe pay is so low you will not attract or retain good people.

Very few get paid well so very few work hard including project mangers.

    Marketing Coordinator (Current Employee)

ProsGreat benefits. Easy job. Not hard work.

ConsBad managment. Due to the structure and the many remote offices every satalite runs differently. No training programs. The company cares little about peons. Way too conservative on every level.

Advice to Senior ManagementAct as though you care about the company and your job. Offices need more oversight and much better communication.
