    Once relevant, now slipping...

    Specialist (Current Employee)

ProsCommitted co-workers and colleagues. Safe work environment and good company commitment to safety.

ConsLimited opportunities for advancement. No training or training support. Vague company direction. Lack of local, regional and national leadership.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake the time to determine who we want to be as a company, share this plan with the employees, and then drive all activities to achieve those goals. Remain committed to those goals, fund their achievement and don't change course mid-stream.

ConsNeed to be willing to play the game for promotions after hire.

Advice to Senior ManagementInstall better collaboration and sharing tools.

    Disconnected from Reality

Sales Professional (Current Employee) Hebron, KY

ProsPeople are genuinely cordial, well meaning individuals. Supervisors seem to be fair with their staff. Lots of coffee at the office, relatively well regarded company in the industry.

Benefits are relatively typical, but not bad.

ConsManagement doesn't understand why they are losing market share, and is trying to "reinvent" the company in order to compete. Market is moving way too fast for a stodgy old school approach. This means that if you are in sales you don't have the tools that customers are gravitating towards, and your opportunities for success are diminished.

Merger may be a disaster for the future of the company and investors in it, because there is no way for a company with this amount of overhead to capitalize on synergies and now the company will have debt, which it previously did not.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to live in the "now." Having capabilities in the future does not get you customers in the present. Speed is more critical than anything in logistics and distribution. Customers don't wait, and if they do, they go elsewhere.

Used to be a good place to work

Customer Service (Former Employee) Detroit, MI

ProsPretty good benefits such as 401K, Medical, vacation time, holidays, sick days, however could soon be changing due to merger with competitor Unisource

Consno longer customer focused, local managers scared for their jobs, only do what corporate tells them, no leadership, just make excuses to employees about decisions that are made, poor computer system, difficult to do a good job, management favors certain employees

Advice to Senior ManagementBe honest with employees, focus on the customer even though you think you don't have to. respect employees and try to be leaders

    Great Company

IT Business Specialist III (Current Employee) Loveland, OH

ProsThe support system around you is fantastic - Nothing I've seen before in my past companies. Team members and managers are there to back you up and support you whenever needed. Extremely nice campus with great amenities.

ConsThere appear to be a few bottlenecks when it comes to IT Processes, and some of the technologies used are a little out of date. Also, some of the IT project manager appear to be very limited in their knowledge and scope of IT process, department responsibilities, etc. (This can be extremely frustrating).

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to have open door policies, and encourage your team members to take on new challenges and projects

    Customer service

    Customer Service (Former Employee)

ProsGreat coworkers, people willing to help when asked , coffee , good safety classes, xpedx really cares about the safety of there workers.

ConsMicro managers, old computer system ,, HR and on boarding process a little rocky, getting set up not well organized, a lot of down time at first. Time sheets are done by hand, very little automation

Advice to Senior ManagementOrganize the office, throw the clutter out, embrace technology, provide a fun working environment where people can strive and grow. How will you attract dynamic individuals if you do not adapt to the current times.?
