Overview
What is Glassdoor?
Glassdoor is a free jobs and career community that offers the world an inside look at jobs and companies. What sets us apart is our "employee generated content" – anonymous salaries, company reviews, interview questions, and more – all posted by employees, job seekers, and sometimes the companies themselves. Now with nearly 3 million salaries and reviews, you have all the information you might need to make your next career decision.
Plus, with Glassdoor's proprietary JobScope™ technology, job seekers have a new way to browse job listings and get instant, in-depth details for any job listing. We take job seekers beyond the information provided in your typical job description by seamlessly integrating salaries and reviews posted by employees, as well uncovering any Inside Connections™ they may have through their friends on Facebook. If our own content isn't enough information to help your with your decision, hopefully we can get you to a friend or friend-of-friend that will be able to answer your questions.
No other career or jobs site offers such detailed information about specific jobs at specific companies – all for free.
How did we get here?
It was the summer of 2007, and Glassdoor co-founder Robert Hohman was taking time off after leaving Hotwire when his long-time friend Rich Barton called up with an interesting question:
“What would happen if someone found the results of the company's employee survey on the printer and posted it to the Web??”
The two had previously worked together at Microsoft and then later Expedia, the company Rich founded and went on to transform the travel industry by opening access to information once available only to travel agents and insiders. After leaving Expedia, Rich went on to transform another industry with the launch of Zillow, a company that opened access to home values and real estate information.
So with all their experience opening access to information, Robert and Rich were now wondering why it was so hard to find helpful information about jobs and companies - shouldn't the results of the employee survey be available to anyone? With the help of good friend Tim Besse they eventually expanded this employee survey concept to also include salary information for specific jobs within a company. And thus, Glassdoor was born to deliver an inside look at any job or company.
What makes us different?
For us it's about offering a real inside look at any job or company. And that means real, un-edited insights from the people who know these companies best — the employees working on the inside, the interview candidates who have been on the inside, and of course the employers themselves.
So whether you're in the job market, or already employed and looking for advancement (or a raise), our "employee generated content" combined with your own network of Facebook friends come together to give you all the information you might need to make your next career decision, including:
Jobs: See all the latest jobs listings updated daily by employers and several of the leading job boards, while getting instant in-depth details about thousands of companies, including company salaries, reviews, and Inside Connections™.
Salaries: Research the latest salary and compensation information by company or job title. Since our information is posted by employees themselves you'll see the salaries for specific job titles that you would recognize at any company.
Company Reviews: See what employees on the inside really think with company reviews that include pro's, con's, and advice for senior management. Plus, see current CEO-approval ratings as well as detailed employee satisfaction ratings across eight workplace factors like work/life balance, employee morale, and compensation & benefits.
Interview Questions & Reviews: Read what interview candidates have to say about the hiring process (including their rating of interview experience and difficulty) as well as see actual questions asked in the interview.
Office Photos: Get a behind-the-scenes look into a company's culture through photos of their workspaces, common areas, and events.
Inside Connections: If our salaries or reviews are not enough, connect your account to Facebook to let us help you uncover an inside connection that can answer your questions or help get your resume noticed.
It's that simple. So simple that in just the few years since our launch, Glassdoor has quickly become the world's most comprehensive resource for career and workplace information.
