25 Highest Rated Companies Hiring Interns in 2014; Facebook Debuts at #1
With more than 4,700 companies across the U.S. hiring interns right now, according to Glassdoor data, now is the time college students and young professionals should determine where they might like to intern this summer, and apply to those internships. To help you find a company that’s not only hiring interns, but will also offer a great experience, Glassdoor has combed through thousands of company reviews shared by interns to reveal its annual report of the 25 Highest Rated Companies Hiring Interns in 2014.1
This year, Facebook debuts on the list at #1 among interns with a 4.6 company rating knocking Google down to #2 and out of the top spot it held in 2012 and 2013. When digging into reviews shared by Facebook interns, benefits they report of interning for the social network include a company culture that embraces creativity and innovation, feeling valued by full-time employees, working with smart colleagues on projects that affect more than a billion people, and perks like free food and laundry on-site. In addition, several new companies are making their debut on this report this year, including Exxon Mobil (#10, 4.5 company rating), Yahoo (#14, 4.1) and Goldman Sachs (#15, 4.1), while Microsoft (#7, 4.3), Procter & Gamble (#17, 4.1) and Nordstrom (#24, 4.0) make it on this report for the third year in a row.

Not only do interns need to research which companies they might like to intern for, they also may need to consider living in different cities for different opportunities. If you’re thinking about New York City, Los Angeles or the San Francisco Bay Area, you may be in luck, because according to Glassdoor jobs data, these three U.S. metros are home to the most employers hiring interns right now. Based on the top 20 U.S. metros by population, New York City has nearly 900 employers hiring interns right now, followed by Los Angeles with 500 and the San Francisco Bay Area with more than 450.
