Glassdoor has been selected as one of the Most Democratic Workplaces™ in 2011, a global certification given by WorldBlu, a company specializing in organizational democracy.

The announcement comes as part of the fifth annual “Democracy in the Workplace Day” today. The “Most Democratic Workplaces” are a combination of for-profit and nonprofit organizations from across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the UK, India, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Malaysia and represent a diverse number of industries, including aerospace, technology, manufacturing, healthcare, telecommunications, retail, services and energy.

In order to be considered for the award, employees are asked to complete a survey evaluating their organization’s practice of ten democratic principles, such as transparency, dialogue and listening, integrity, accountability and choice on a leadership, individual, and systems and processes level.
