I wish I could take back knowing that a coworker of mine makes more than $2.00 an hour more than I do, but I can't. We have the same job description, however I have more knowledge about procedures, planning, and training. I have been encouraged by my supervisor to expand into other rolls and have taken heed. I even took part in training our current maintenance person! I now cover for the shipping department, with a $0.25 per hour increase in pay (only when I perform this duty for more than a 4 hour time period, in a single day), also cover for our maintenance department when needed. I understand small business, but this is a bit much. I only make $10.00 an hour. When I left my last job, I made $12.50 per hour, that was over 5 years ago.

I have been with the same factory for 3 years. I have 33 college credits. I always go above and beyond my call of duty. I keep getting thrown in my face that "we are such a bad economy that no one should expect any sort of a payraise" but yet he drives a brand new car- lives in a 1/2 million dollar home-, etc. I have sat down with him and laid out several things, to no avail. I am sincerely looking for different employment because I am coming up short at the end of every month. I may not get any raises, but it doesnt stop the utility, landlord, comcast from raising their prices on me. Something needs to give!!!

I have been with the same employer for 6 years and only making $2 more an hour than when I started. That kind of policies allows the best people to leave the compnay. In turmoil and with layoffs going about there is little chance to get a payrise, unless you are holding a key position in a key strategic business.

At this time, I believe that companies are strongly committed to a policy of voluntary leaves.
