Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience: Currently licensed as RN in state. Bachelor’s degree in nursing, preferred. Minimum of one-year medical surgical nursing experience, hemodialysis experience and/or ICU experience preferred. Successful completion of training course in the theory and practice of hemodialysis and CPR certification required.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Completes all assigned tasks in a timely manner.

Follows established safety and infection control precautions, policies and procedures.
Attends and participates in in-service training programs as mandated by regulatory agencies/Company policy.
Accepts work assignments from supervisor willingly and takes ownership of job responsibilities.
Follows Company meal and break policy.
Uses supplies without wasting.
Provides direct patient care for assigned patients and assists in the care of other patients as needed.
Performs all technical aspects of dialysis procedures for assigned patients as prescribed.
Assesses patient’s response to dialysis therapy and makes appropriate adjustments and modifications to the treatment plan as indicated or directed by the supervisor or as prescribed by the Physician.
Assesses patient pre, interim and post dialysis and documents findings.
Accurately documents information related to patient treatment and patient assessment in the individual patient record.
Reports any significant information or change in patient condition to the supervisor.
Administers medications as ordered to assigned patients and assists supervisor with administration of medications to other patients as needed.
Assesses educational needs of patients and educates the patient and family regarding end stage renal disease, dialysis therapy, diet and medications.
Initiates CPR measures in the event of cardiac and/or pulmonary arrest and responds to emergency situations related to dialysis treatment.
Evaluates and records monthly laboratory data. Implements appropriate nursing measure. Notifies attending Physician of aberrant lab results and implements new treatment orders.
Assists in short term and long term patient care plan meeting.
Acts as a resource person for other staff members. Coordinates plan of care with Physician, Dietician and Social Services.
Performs back-up charge responsibilities as assigned.
Performs any miscellaneous work assignments as may be required.

      Pros

      Management is very involved in the day to day. They help you get what you need to get things done. The company is always looking for areas of improvement. We are starting construction of a brand new pulmonary care unit soon!

      Cons

      None that I can remember right now. Salaries are very competitive and co-workers very friendly.
