Job Description: MN.IT Services, the State's central IT organization, is seeking qualified student workers to perform a variety of work in support of protecting the State's information assets. The incumbent will assist executive branch agencies with the implementation of current security tools, and the development and deployment of security reports. This opportunity offers a student the valuable experience of working across State agencies in the evolving field of information security. Minimum Qualifications: TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Programming Languages: .Net, Java, JavaScript/VBScript, SQL, Perl, Shell Scripting / Power Script
- Networking frameworks and protocols, such as OSI Model, Routing, Switches, TCP/IP, VANs
- Microsoft Windows, Unix and Linux Operating Systems
- Common network applications, such as Web Servers (Apache, IIS), J2EE Application Servers
- Experience or knowledge of databases and database design (Oracle, SQL Server or DB/2)
- Understating of Security practices such as vulnerability management, intrusion detection, access controls, security configuration management, and encryption technologies
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
To be considered for this position, you must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to work efficiently with individuals at all levels of the organization. Demonstrated public speaking and report writing experience is a definite plus. You must be able to resolve difficult technical problems, and communicate technical details to a non-technical audience.
EDUCATION:
To be considered for this position, you must be enrolled in a 4 year degree program specializing in Computer Science, Information Security, or a closely related field. The State requires student workers to be actively enrolled or intending to be enrolled within three months - and must carry at least six semester credits if at a credit-granting institution. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. These requirements will be verified prior to employment.
