Job Description:

To serve as inspection supervisor for the Maintenance department and also support inspection requirements for Project Engineering management at Geismar. Responsible for developing and managing inspection activities to help ensure the safety and long term reliability of Westlake's fixed equipment. This includes oversight of routine inspection monitoring programs, resource coordination, and direction of nondestructive examination activities. This position also verifies conditions are conducive and acceptable for the performance of quality work in accordance with the applicable codes, specifications, and standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage the Mechanical Integrity Inspection Program for the fixed equipment at the Petro and Poly sites (i.e. RBMI and CUI).
  • Support planning and execution of outage and turnaround activities on process and interrelated fixed equipment through inspection methodologies and historical documentation.
  • Maintain and manage Quality Control of all construction, fabrication, repair, alteration and maintenance on fixed equipment and pipelines in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Maintain latest editions and addendum of codes and standards.
  • Inspection, testing, maintenance, and documentation of relief devices.
  • Maintain qualification records on inspection personnel and third party inspection companies.
  • Monitor Contractors performance and quality assurance in respect to design, fabrication, repair and/or alterations of fixed equipment.
  • Manage and evaluate non-destructive and destructive testing and inspection activities.
  • Maintain inspection records and documentation on fixed equipment as well as welds and welders.
  • Review Project Engineering packages for compliance with applicable codes, standards and specifications.
  • Assist in determining and tracking key measures of fixed equipment monitoring programs.
  • Perform duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of all personnel on site. Whenever appropriate; promptly report Safety, Health or Environmental incidents or issues to management so the situation can be corrected. Attend Monthly Safety Meetings to help prevent off site and job accidents.
  • Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering preferred.
  • 12 years work experience in the design, fabrication, repair, inspection, and maintenance of a Petro Chemical facilities with 7 years minimum inspection experience of pressure vessels and/or piping systems.
  • Certification in one or more of the following: AWS-CWI, American Welding Society Certification for Welding Inspectors, API 510, American Petroleum Institute, Pressure Vessel Inspection Code, API 570, American Petroleum Institute, Piping Inspection Code, API 653, American Petroleum Institute, Tank Inspection, Repair, Alteration, and Reconstruction.
  • Proficient with ASME, ANSI, API, AWS, ASNT and NBIC codes and standards.
  • 2-3 years supervision experience.
