Overview: Balsam Brands is looking for a talented, driven individual to join our team. This person must have a passion for retail buying, ecommerce, trend forecasting and managing vendor relationships. This position combines strategic planning with execution and implementation in a fun and well-balanced work environment.

Description: The Associate Buyer will be responsible for overseeing the expansion of product offerings across multiple branded ecommerce sites. This process will entail executing a strategy for product expansion, analyzing performance, and making recommendations. We are looking for a team player who can oversee many aspects of the merchandising life cycle and ultimately help grow our merchandising team. This role will encompass analyzing and assessing vendor-partners, trend forecasting, buying, coordinating with operations regarding product, and ultimately working with various functional groups to increase conversion on our websites. Our business is growing quickly, so candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and willing to process lots of information, form conclusions, and modify strategies as necessary.

Responsibilities will include:

Develop a merchandising plan that meets specific category expansion objectives, including offering a larger assortment of products on key websites

Identify possible third party vendors and collaborate with these vendors and key partners to expand our online catalog

Identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities to increase conversion customer engagement and continually optimize site performance

Remain updated on industry trends and the competitive landscape

Work with the team to ensure inventory arrives on time and is merchandised according to plan

Regularly review sales performance metrics, react accordingly and plan next steps

Develop category promotions and work with teams through execution of these promotions

Identify business opportunities and risks through analyzing sales performance, market trends, and the competitive landscape

Remain involved in various processes to successfully introduce new products or our webstores; processes include planning, photography, and web development, among others.

Recommend and manage virtual goods direction, through current market trends, sales revenue, pricing, and marketing

Review competitive websites to evaluate site merchandise, promotional tactics, customer experience, pricing and product presentation, and translate findings into executable programs

Undergraduate degree

2-5 years work experience
