Zephyr Health is building out a strong algorithm team with comprised of a combination of scientists and engineers. This role focuses on design and implementation of the core algorithms that powers Zephyr's data platform.

Experience Requirements Required

5-6+ years of backend / data focused Java development

Experience working with efficient data structures and algorithms for large scale data analysis

Highly proficient with databases (we use both relational and NoSQL databases) 

Object Orientated design and development experience for large scale distributed applications

Experienced in estimating effort and elapsed time required to complete project deliverables

Advanced CS or Engineering Degree

Nice to Have

Experience within the Open Source community

Experience with machine learning

Experience with text analysis

Experience of source code control with Git

Past success in a start-up environment

Responsibilities

Motivating and working closely with a team of scientists and developers

Strong business savvy and technical analytical ability – able to develop robust applications from business requirements documentation.

Provide feedback on business requirements documentation to ensure resolution of any apparent ambiguity or contradictions.

Participation in the selection and implementation of third party software to support design and maintenance.

Developing and communicating workload estimates (ie. Creation of workload breakdown plan to define and track software development efforts)

Delivering functionality within estimated effort and time frames

Conduct Design reviews with stakeholder team.

Conduct code reviews for their team members to ensure standards compliance.

Communicate issues and status information to stakeholder team.
