May monitor and maintain data, voice, and LAN infrastructure, and act as an auxiliary production support professional for a 24x7x365 news production environment. Demonstrated skill and experience providing technical support in a networked computing environment is required, as well as basic familiarity with broadcast production systems.Duties - Server and Network Administration 40-60%Perform server administration tasks such as adding/deleting users, logins, email accounts, passwords, etc. Perform system performance monitoring and tuning, software configuration, performance and capacity planning, installation of system patches, backup administration, system sizing and client configuration, data archiving, and other maintenance tasks to ensure near-100% availability of production systems. May perform or assist with system-wide software upgrades/deployments for the LAN and/or server infrastructure; procure, install, and configure file servers, audio/video servers, messaging servers, and other development/production equipment necessary for the effective and efficient use of digital information; and participate on systems integration, design, installation, and maintenance projects.Perform periodic back-ups and maintenance of servers and databases to ensure availability and integrity of data and operational systems. Record critical information in the internal tracking application in order to (a) clearly document the problem, action taken, and end solution for a historical record; (b) monitor and update the status of various customer problems at any given time; (c) provide a medium through which to share knowledge regarding the evaluation and correction of technical problems with other Production Support professionals; and (d) capture data to be used by management regarding problem trends, resolution time, costs, or other metricsBased on an understanding of hardware, software, newsroom systems, and peripheral technology, and on an analysis and evaluation of the technical problem, determine a suitable course of action. Implement an acceptable solution that meets the customer's needs in a timely manner. Accurately report and track requests for services through to completion including follow up communication with the customer.Where necessary, solicit the expertise of other resources to accurately and effectively determine and execute the best solution.
