Electrical Engineering Project Lead

Summary:
As a member of the hardware development team, The Electrical Engineering Project Lead is responsible for leading the design and development of Compute and Storage Products. This role is 75% project lead and technical management and 25% hands-on electrical engineering involved in working out design details, and assisting with troubleshooting problems down to the board level.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
-Project Management of a product through development, test, and into production meeting cost and schedule targets
-Work directly with System Architecture, Procurement, and Program Management in the initial quotation process to ensure that requirements, schedule and cost align with product features specified
-Work directly with other technical disciplines, Mechanical, Thermal, Software and Firmware, Agency Compliance, Reliability to resolve technical issues through the development of a product.
-Work directly with Manufacturing, Test, Purchasing and Quality to ensure a product is of high quality, is cost effective, and is manufacturable.
-Oversee and perform reviews of specs, schematics, layouts, test plans and results.
-Ensure proper simulation and analyses are being completed
-Oversee PCB layout activities to ensure performance targets are met with lowest cost solution
-Oversee assembly and successful functional test of engineering prototypes
-Lead EE team working on your product through effective delegation of tasks both locally and globally.
-Ensure product technical documentation meets high quality standards, is accurate and complete.
-Work directly with Supply Chain management to aid in the development of vendor relationships that ensure the best value proposition for cost, quality, functionality, and technical support.
-Stay abreast of the latest technology and techniques to produce designs that are competitive and cost effective.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Must have in-depth knowledge of, and hands-on experience in, high-end computing architecture design such as Intel x86 or x64 Architecture, ServerWorks, AMD, or other similar chipset or processor based design architectures
- Must have in-depth understanding of, and experience in, the productization of a printed circuit board assemblies, and related electronics assemblies for the enterprise-class market.
-Must have in-depth knowledge of and experience in high-speed circuit board design, design for manufacturability, and design for test.
-Must have in-depth knowledge of and experience in solving signal integrity issues for
high-speed, high performance systems
-Must have in-depth knowledge of and experience in high-speed backplane design
-Must have knowledge of and experience in board layout for EMI suppression techniques
-Must have in-depth knowledge of, and experience in, lab equipment and test techniques to be able to trouble-shoot circuit level and system level problems.
-Knowledge of and experience in FPGA and/or CPLD programmable device design using VHDL a bonus
-Must have in-depth knowledge and experience in electrical verification of a PCBA and product integration.
-Must be proficient in the use of and have recent experience with an EDA tool. Cadence is preferred.
-Must have recent design experience and test with industry standard high-speed interfaces such as, DDR-1/2/3, PCIe-Gen 1/2/3, QPI, FC 4G/8G, SAS 3G/6G, SATA-I/II, Infiniband DDR/QDR/FDR, Hypertransport HT 1-3, USB 2/3, 10/100/1000 Base-T, 10GBase-T
-Must be proficient in the use of PC or Laptop workstations, Microsoft proficiency software, Windows XP or Windows 7 operating system
-Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience:

Required Experience
• BS in Electrical Engineering. MS in Electrical Engineering preferred.
• 7-10 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• At least 6 years experience in taking board level products successfully from design to production
• Hands-On experience designing Enterprise class motherboards
• BIOS, ACPI, BMC, SMBus, ASF, PXE
• Intel, AMD, Broadcom chipset board design experience
• Microsoft Office proficiency software
• Internet, network navigation, Outlook

• Cadence EDA, Designer CIS and/or Concept CIS, Allegro
• VHDL

Travel Requirements:
-Occasional domestic and international travel, at times on short notice. Likely once or twice a quarter.
-Current passport and no history of declined visas, or entry refusal to any country.
