Job Description

Serves as a data entry/ coder and serves as a back up for transcription. Defines and codes the purpose of visit. Performs data management. Performs corrections through the Coding Queue System. Performs Transcription duties up to 50% of work schedule by transcribing hospital discharges summeries, echo/ doppler reports, behavioral health evaluation reports, ect. and endoscopy reports into the radiology package of RPMS. Performs other duties as needed or assigned.

Qualifications: High School diploma required. Must have at least six months experience in the Health Information Department. Must have Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology and ICD-9 codingrules. Must also complete ICD-10. Typing skills with accuracy is a must. Requires ability to communicate effectively with other departments and members of the medical staff. Tact, discretion and persuasiveness are needed. Prior knowledge and experience with computers required.
