Job Description

Laboratory Internship

The laboratory of Dr. Brian Kennedy at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging in Novato, California is conducting exciting genetic research projects to unlock a mystery which has captivated generations of investigators: what are the mechanisms driving the process of aging? We are currently accepting applications for Laboratory Aide Internships to join the scientific endeavor. Selected applicants will assist in research experiments to elucidate mechanisms of aging using mouse models. You will be trained in essential lab techniques including mouse colony maintenance and organization, DNA isolation, PCR, and Western blotting.

The positions offer flexible hours but desirable candidates MUST be able to work between 6 to 12 hours per week during the academic year and MUST be able to provide their own means of transportation. Excellent communication and organization skills are required. The ideal candidate must be able to develop good rapport with the members of the lab. No prior experience is required and all majors are welcome.

      Free coffee, close collaboration, intelligent people, diverse people, recondite location, surprising number of cute girls and cute deer

      Cons

      Low pay, poor parking situation, borderline adequate information technology department, not very many seminars due to location

      Advice to Management

      Pay us more and upgrade the parking lot to have those solar panel shade setups. add more free food
