Part-time instructors may be needed to teach ESL courses in the Intensive ESL and English for Academic Purposes (EAP) departments for Spring Quarter 2014. English for Academic Purposes focuses on preparing non-native English speakers for college classes and concentrates on essay writing, editing, and college level reading. Intensive ESL is a four hour per day intensive program for international students and has five levels, from beginning to advanced. After completing Intensive ESL students go either directly to college English or to English for Academic Purposes while they take other college non-English classes.
The Division/Department is especially interested in recruiting applicants with diverse backgrounds to teach our increasingly diverse student population.

Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • MA in TESL or other MA/BA and Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language with extensive experience.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English with a diverse student population.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience teaching Intensive ESL or EAP.
  • Experience teaching or working abroad.

Additional Information:
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is typically performed in a classroom which requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Instructors typically use a personal computer in the work environment.
COMPENSATION:
Salary is dependent upon contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five-credit “lecture mode” class would be approximately $3,635.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire.
  • Agency Shop Fee: You must become a member of the faculty union or pay a representation fee or nonassociation fee within thirty calendar days of your hire.
  • All new positions are contingent upon funding.

Edmonds Community College, founded in 1967, is a public, two-year, coeducational state community college which each year welcomes some 11,500 academic and vocational students, including approximately 1,200 international students who come here from as many as 79 countries.

      some of them are very picky, they don't give challenges to worker, if you know how to do it don't do it unless you have experience.
