Employer Summary

1904labs provides a strong benefits package not typically associated with growing companies. We provide access to healthcare (PPO, HSA), FSA (medical and dependent care), vision, dental, life insurance, access to a 401(k) with company match, short and long term disability, etc.

We also believe in our folks taking time to step away and come back renewed and refreshed. For this reason we provide 3 weeks accrued PTO annually and follow a typical national holiday schedule. Additionally we have a holiday week shutdown during the last week of the year.

Insurance is great for individuals, but gets pricey as you add spouse/dependents. Additionally, they use an FSA instead of an HSA which many employers have switched to so that employees do not lose savings at the end of the year; very inconvenient to have to worry about this and is often better to simply not use it. The 401k match is lower than most places at a max of 2%.

The 20% innovation time is awesome. We're actively encouraged twice weekly to invest 2 hours a day into our OWN personal projects (which 1904labs has NO interest/ownership of). The mentoring available and the huge skill set available makes growth and learning a real benefit.

A downside of the benefits currently offered, is the lack of reimbursement for professional conferences. Not only is there no reimbursement, but employees also have to take PTO days for the time they're gone. On the plus side, the company has a generous education reimbursement benefit but it's currently somewhat limited in scope. One recent addition to the list of allowable reimbursements is a St. Louis TechShop membership which is really cool!
