Benefits are excellent! We are provided all the standard benefits of healthcare, dental, vision, and 401k, 3-5 weeks of vacation annually depending on length of service. Additionally, AARP offers a pension, paid community service hours, paid caregiver leave, and many other optional benefits. They recognize employees with an award system, and salaries are competitive. They also promote professional growth and development by paying for training and tuition assistance.

AARP encouraged employees to volunteer through "Days of Service". Some departments do days of service as a group which is great at developing teamwork.

As contractors, we had no benefits package whatsoever. We had no time off, overtime pay, health insurance, 401(k) or pension, like regular staff.

Best benefits are the ability to telecommute and the pension plan which is vested after 5 years of employment.

AARP was wonderful and compassionate, when I suffered a rare acquired brain injury, and decided to leave after realizing the brain injury would no longer allow me to be able to work.
