They pay for experience and proven track record.
401k is good (75% match up to 6%), ESPP has two year look back, RSU + cash bonus annually. Two negatives: the health insurance is below average and the RSU vesting is annual.
relocation package that i had to return for leaving within a year was both the best and worst thing about my benefits package. oh, and you get $5 employee discount off of a $700 raven ridge machine.
AMD just added ESPP for employes. Great for the workers.
Health insurance is pretty good. Worst thing is there's no sabbatical now. Maternity leave is just 6/8 weeks and is not competitive
The benefits at AMD are generally good, however, they don't give us much options regarding the service providers. They usually have high co-pays, less coverage and more restrictions. They don't have matching plans for any donations.
Definitely underfunded due to its underdog status. Paternity leave is pretty good and health care isn't too bad.
Perks, 401k and health insurance is competitive though base pay, joining bonus is less compared to other companies.

benefits are not that great. just basic stuff like medical coverage dental coverage paramedical coverage vision coverage. match a very little 401k. and they do give some vacation which you cannot take during project cycles
