Con: - Ruined the HSA plan used be $3,000 deductible with 0% co-insurance post deductible for a family and they would give $2,000 towards the deductible . - Tuition reimbursement less than $4k per year, with 6 month commitment after completing the class. Since it only applied to accredited schools which happen to be very expensive in Cambridge it amounts to about 1.5 class a year. PRO: paid time off: * 6 days of sick time use it or loose it * 20 days of vacation after 5 years; only 40 or 80 hours can be carried over ** Can use it before you earned it * 11 days holiday

The best thing was the flexible schedule and ability to work independently and from home. The worst thing was the limited vacation time.

BEST - The rates for health insurance (including medical, dental, and vision) seem to be pretty low; they're definitely lower than the rates offered by my spouse's company. WORST - Commuter benefits for public transportation are meager; $50 a month for Metrobus and Metrorail. You do get a benefit if you bike but it does not apply if you use bikeshare.

Best: Matching 401K plan at 5%, Employee Stock Option Plan (fully vested after 5 years), Metro/Parking subsidy, bike repair subsidy, free access to gym downstairs, option to work from home. Worst: Tuition assistance is only for accredited institutions. So there's not taking language courses at credible, non-accredited institutions, even if they would help develop your career.

The ESOP plan is an addition to your 401K plan.

The time off is okay. Matching with the 401K could be better. Transportation benefit really needed to be addressed.

When you add up the 401K and ESOP program, Abt actually ends up contributing roughly 10-12% a year, which is pretty generous. The worst thing is the vision plan.

Benefits are good. Could probably use more sick time. And could use vacation time being rolled over more than what is currently offered. Tuition reimbursement is pretty low.

It is fairly generous but shrinking.
