They make it hard for you to call off sick with so few people to replace your position when it happens. it's almost like a guilt-trip: "I have to go to work this morning, because it's impossible for me to call off as no one will be able to pick up my shift because we are low on bodies."
I was glad because I was paid, but I'd have to use sick days any time an obligation would arise. I did make sure to use all of them, and I was never harassed for using them.
They love to cancel out your accrued sick days as often as possible.
