The only paid holidays are if you actually work on the holiday and very few days are recognized. If the site you are contracted two takes an extended vacation, like a week between Christmas and New Years, none of that is paid.

Paid holidays gives me time to spend with my 3 sons and granddaughter. We love Christmas and my son who is a chef is a great cook and I make a mean Baileys Irish Cream. Birthdays are also very important. Also, Thanksgiving is important in order to thank God for all that I and my family have been blessed with.

staffing industry has to work on most days before holidays to be there for the clients. Once you establish yourself, you can usually get whatever days you want off.

StarStarStarStarStar Former Grapher Designer in Lexington-Fayette, Kentucky

Vacation time was accrued depending on hours worked. During initial employment conversations, total days of vacation / paid holidays were incorrectly described to what the contract offered. Paid holidays were a set 7 holidays per year. This did not necessarily sync up with the company I was contracted to work for - so if the office was closed and I was not allowed to work from home, I was forced to use a vacation day.

    Paid same week as "worked"
