Incredible benefits for part time (Traditional Reservist/IMA) staff. Medical, dental, pension...the list goes on. If captured in total compensation benefits would add up to probably $25k/yr not including education benefits.

All major health, dental, and vision can be received for 2 days of work a month. 2 weeks a year. Generally, you opt into each plan, which are incredibly generous, and all of them are covered, but most of your monthly go to these benefits with only a little left over.

You would be hard-pressed to find any employer with better benefits than the United States Air Force.

I get $1548 in basic housing allowance on top of my pay of $22,000. My first rank was a E-3, because of my college credits when I joined. I also get a bonus of $3,000 extra a year for 6 years because of my enlistment bonus. If you have a wife or kids, they are thoroughly taken care of. If you want a full time opportunity, we call them "orders". You can sign up for them for like 6 months or a year and get basic housing allowance and all active duty benefits. With a order, you can do it at your home base - or any base you want to. That way you can be where you want, unlike active duty.

The best things are: Education, medical, and occasional travel. The worst things: Sometimes having to perform work outside of duty time to manage programs.
