Coverage is moderate and cost is less than one hundred dollars per month.
the benefits are very comprehensive
They pay for most of the benefits. Their retirement contribution is amazing, I was shocked at how much they put in compared to me. Dental and life insurance paid for by them as well. They will also compensate you for NOT putting your family on your plan if they have other health insurance. So I get an extra $100/month just for not adding my husband to my plan.
Great health insurance, especially if you have a family or dependents! Dental insurance does not cover much of orthodontic work, though.
Company's contribution to health benefits are better than most places. Reasonable rates for employees with families. Definitely a pro for working there.
Great benefits and retirement.
Generous "County Allowance" or employer credit is given to most employees to help off-set costs for medical premiums.
full benefits, pre-tax deductions towards child care and transportation
Great benefits, very comprehensive. I really enjoy not having to worry about my health insurance status on a regular basis, and working here gave me peace of mind.
Alameda County offer a cafeteria plan where the county gives you $1,100 per year for all your benefit deduction. Basically, if you are "single", you paid 0 for out of pocket for your benefit deduction. For Health Care, you have a lot of options, pay anywhere from $90 to $150 for a family on biweekly paycheck. but about $46 will be pay by the Cafeteria Plan to cover it so your pay out of pocket for a family is about $45 to $100 per biweekly paycheck. For Dental, you don't pay anything even for a family. The actual plan is on the low side, it have a limit of $1,550 a year of limit per person. If you have a lot of dental work, you can do it over a few year. For Vision (optional), you pay from less than $15 per pay check for a family. Basically it is VSP, a decent plan. For Retirement, you pay about 8% of your salary into the retirement (Defined benefit plan). The county pays a lot. About 28.8% of my salary into the retirement. The county has a limit about 20K a year into the plan. It is similar to other county. Actual retirement plan is 2% @ 62. x times service x average 36 months of highest salary. If you wait till 67 years old it is 2.5% @67.
