    The district is part of the TRS system. the employee have no control over investments or withdrawal of money. I guess TRS believes that teachers are incapable of investing and making decisions about their money. you need to leave your job to be able to withdraw money from your retirement account.

    It's the teacher retirement plan that all the teachers in the State of Texas have. I'd say to make sure you also have a 403b because unless you started teacher right of out college, it's hard to reach the Rule of 80.
