They are very open to training and encourage it.
It was too extensive and not entirely useful as the job progressed.
They clearly outlined what we were responsible for, and had us practice is over and over until we could do it in our sleep. Granted, I will note that people who came halfway through the service year felt very under-prepared. However, after a few weeks in the field everyone was good to go!
A lot of their training is repetitive.
There is ample job training. AmeriCorps and the Corporation for National and Community Service offers a mandatory Pre Service Orientation. In addition, my specific organization offers an orientation as well as a Mid Service training and various summits and conferences.
It was ok. They focused on areas they don't need to focus on. It was uninteresting but great networking.
It's a week long training and they try to really focus on what you will do during your year of service
The PSO training is quite helpful, and AmeriCorps pays for travel and lodging at the remote training site.
Continuous opportunities to develop professionally are helpful.
The job training was especially helpful. There are required trainings throughout the year that touch on service, social justice, and how to engage with community partners
