Some company match, not enough, but it is good they at least match something. The benefit is provided through Fidelity.

Ascend is comparable to most companies by offering up to a 3% employer match of your salary so make sure you elect 6% of your salary to get the full employer match.

The 401K Plan established by Ascend Learning, LLC seems to align with other across the nation. Most employees appear to be quite pleased with what is offerend and it allows us to contribute to the security of our future.

The plan is pretty bad. They match 50% on the dollar up to 6% of your gross income. That's a little below the competition who matches 100% up to 6%. Fidelity normally has great fund plans, but for Ascend they only offer one or two low expense ratio funds that doesn't make up a complete investment portfolio. They pass through bookkeeping fees which is a first for me. I've never seen a company not pay these for employees, although I heard it's on the rise. These fees amount to about 100k/year on $10MM of managed assets. The ironic thing is that Ascend has a division that are experts in this field & they teach others how to pass Securities exams (65/66, 6, 7, 63, 24, 26, 53, etc.). Because of the jealous structure of management HR was given responsibility to pick the plans and not this department.

Match 3% and fully vested in 3 years which is better than most companies.
