    You accrue sick days per pay period.

    It takes a little while to gain them, but the sick days are easy to earn and accumulate rapidly if you're like me and don't get sick often. It's nice to know I have a stockpile if I ever needed it.

    My mangers were able to work around my schedule. There was a time where I was told by a doctor to take a week to get better, my professor had more of a fit than my manager.

    This is an academic institution. If you are an assistant professor, you are pretty much in charge of yourself. As long as you do not miss classes extensively, nobody is going to raise any questions.
