Best thing is the district gives paid sick leave and personal time. They don't however offer an incentive to not use excessive days. There is no compensation for unused time when leaving the district/retiring.
Year round employees get school holidays off as well as sick, personal, and vacation time.
Time off in the summer are paid and you also get 10 days off during the school year.
Too much professional development required during summer months.

There are the usual summer months out of school and 12 or so sick days which accumulate if not used. We worked 187 days a year and we got paid for only 187 days a year.
Best benefit of the job is summers and holidays off. Great for parents.
