Backcountry strives to provide a balanced, comprehensive benefits program that helps employees make choices around their specific needs. The Backcountry Employee Benefits program offers core benefits, such as medical, life, accidental death and dismemberment, and long term disability as well as various voluntary benefits that help maximize your coverage options.
Vacation and Time off are very restricted
Standard benefits are average to below average (e.g., health insurance, 401k match). Best perks by far are the gear discounts, gold passes, flexible time off, and emphasis on team / company bonding activities. However, the combination of the lack of ability to influence the performance bonus as an individual contributor with the fact that it is VERY small was very discouraging.
The Benefits were ok. There was a 401k match that they offered that was nice. Health insurance was reasonably priced. The best benefit they offered was the gear discount but they require you to review the gear you purchased or they would shut your discount off.
The benefits at Backountry.com are FANTASTIC! The pay is rough honestly. But, I've had 3 jobs since and I wish I had stayed at Backcountry just for the insurance and the benefits.
401k is matched at 80% (up to 5% of gross income) There is no option to divest 401k from unethical companies
401k match- 100% of first 3%, 50% of next 2%, standard medical dental & vision. 6 paid holidays and flexible time off if your work is done/there is someone else to cover while you're out.
The company discount is great, awesome PTO, and decent health benefits
The Health insurance is really good if you have a major accident. You pay minimal out of pocket, but there are always the hidden fees until you get to your deductible.
I did not receive any benefits, health insurance, 401k, or vacation because i was a seasonal employee for the busy winter season
Worst thing is the dental good luck finding a place not in salt lake to accept the insurance
